Jackson Makoi
Anyiarbany "Jackson" Makoi (born 3 July 2000) is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player for the Sydney Kings of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL), and the South Sudan national basketball team. Standing at , he plays as a point guard. Early life Makoi was born in Egypt, however he moved to Melbourne, Australia at an early age. He moved to the United States to play high school basketball. Professional career On 8 September 2021, Makoi signed his first professional contract with Vrijednosnice Osijek of the Croatian HT Premijer liga. On 21 June 2022, Makoi signed with the Sydney Kings as a development player for the 2022–23 NBL season. He re-signed with the Kings on 28 March 2023 to a two-year deal, with the second year including a place on the team's main roster. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. The Hrvatski Telekom Premijer liga ( en, Hrvatski Telekom Premier League, ), also known as HT Premijer liga or simply Premijer liga, is the first tier level men's professional basketball league in Croatia. It began in 1991, following the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia and therefore the Yugoslav League, and is organized by the Croatian Basketball Federation.
