Jackson Jobe
Jackson William Jobe (born July 30, 2002) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization. Amateur career Jobe attended Heritage Hall School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he played football and baseball. He committed to play college baseball at Ole Miss. In 2018, his sophomore year, he was the starting quarterback for the football team and led them to an OSSAA AAA State Championship. During the summer of 2020, he participated in the Perfect Game All-American Classic at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. As a senior in 2021, he threw two no-hitters and went 9–1 with a 0.13 ERA, five walks, and 122 strikeouts over innings pitched, leading Heritage Hall to a state championship. He also batted .469 with six home runs and 38 RBIs. He was subsequently named the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year. Pitcher
In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark
Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark opened in 1998 in downtown Oklahoma City's Bricktown Entertainment District, replacing All Sports Stadium. It is the home of the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers Major League Baseball team. The park has seating for up to 13,066 fans and currently utilizes a seating capacity of 9,000 for Dodgers games. The stadium frequently hosts the Phillips 66 Big 12 baseball tournament, which was played there from 2005 to 2021 with the exception of 2015 and 2020. The first Big 12 tournament was held at All Sports Stadium in 1997 before moving to Bricktown in 1998. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. Brandt Jobe
Brandt William Jobe (born August 1, 1965) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Champions Tour. He has also played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. Early life and amateur career Jobe was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended UCLA where he was a member of the 1988 NCAA Division I Men's Championship winning team. Professional career Jobe turned professional in 1988. In 1990, Jobe led the order of merit on the Canadian Tour. He won membership of the PGA Tour for 1991 via Qualifying School, but only made five cuts that year. After a few unsettled seasons, during which he won the 1995 Asia Golf Circuit Order of Merit, he established himself on the Japan Golf Tour, where he played from 1995 to 1999 and won six tournaments. The Midwest League is a Minor League Baseball league established in 1947 and based in the Midwestern United States. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The West Michigan Whitecaps are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They are located in Comstock Park, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids, and play their home games at LMCU Ballpark. Franchise history The Midwest League came to the Grand Rapids area in 1994 upon the arrival of the former Madison Muskies. The Whitecaps were brought to West Michigan by local businessmen Lew Chamberlin and Dennis Baxter. The Florida State League (FSL) is a Minor League Baseball league based in the state of Florida. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. Lakeland Flying Tigers
The Lakeland Flying Tigers are a Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the Single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They are located in Lakeland, Florida, and play their home games at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. History The team was established in 1960 as the Lakeland Indians, an affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. After a one-year hiatus, the team was restarted in 1962 as the Lakeland Giants, an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
