The school was created in 1908 with the merger of Jackson's West Side and East Side High Schools and moved to its present location in 1927. The school's mascot is the Viking. Jackson High School (also referred to as Jackson Senior High or simply JHS), is located in Jackson, Missouri, United States. It consists of grades 9–12 and is a part of the Jackson R-2 School District. The district includes most of Jackson, Burfordville, Gordonville, Millersville, New Wells, Pocahontas, most of Shawneetown, and small sections of Cape Girardeau. History It was established in 1920. One of the original buildings of the school was called Old A. This building stood as a historical landmark until its demolition in 2017 as a result of the voter approved no tax bond, Prop J, which was passed in 2017. Andrew Jackson High School of Advanced Technology, A Dedicated Magnet School is the oldest fully accredited high school in Duval County, Florida. It is located just north of downtown Jacksonville on Main Street (U.S. Highway 17). It opened in 1927, the same time as Riverside High School (Formerly Robert E. Lee High School). Andrew Jackson High School is a defunct comprehensive high school in the Cambria Heights section in southeastern Queens, New York. The school was opened in 1937, and named after former United States President Andrew Jackson. However, the city closed down the school in 1994. At its nadir in the late 1970s, police broke up a heroin-processing factory in the school's basement. Jackson Memorial High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades in Jackson Township, in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States, opened in 1963 as part of the Jackson School District. It is the sister high school of Jackson Liberty High School, which opened in late summer 2006. Miami Jackson Senior High School, also known as Andrew Jackson High School or Jackson High School, is a high school located at 1751 NW 36th Street in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami, Florida, United States. Its athletic team name is the Generals. History Jackson High School began as a grade school. The original building was a log cabin built in 1898 on land donated by L.J. Becker. In its first year there were only 14 students. It was replaced by a four-room grade school which was more than doubled later with the addition of a five-room annex. Due to the growth of Miami's northwestern section, more rooms had to be added. In 1926, a three-story high school building was added. This building remained the Jackson High School main campus until 2008, when a new campus was built on the school's athletic fields; the original building was demolished and its area used for the new athletic fields.
