Jackknife Bar, or simply Jackknife, was a bar in Portland, Oregon. The 4,000-square-foot cocktail bar was housed in the Sentinel Hotel, before closing in May 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Description The interior featured a 50-seat, 65-foot-long curved marble and wood-lined bar, as well as a domed stained glass ceiling. History Jake Carey and John Janulis opened the bar in April 2014, with Justin Diaz overseeing the bar operation and Erik Paulsen as chef. Russell Van der Genugten became executive chef in March 2015. In 2019, a man was removed from the bar for wearing a shirt with the text "Anti-Fascist"; Jackknife's parent company Lightning Bar Collective ( Bye and Bye, Sweet Hereafter, Victoria Bar) said the policy against clothing promoting hate groups was "misinterpreted" by a contracted security guard. Jackknifing
Jackknifing is the folding of an articulated vehicle so that it resembles the acute angle of a folding pocket knife. If a vehicle towing a trailer skids, the trailer can push the towing vehicle from behind until it spins the vehicle around and faces backwards. This may be caused by equipment failure, improper braking, or adverse road conditions such as an icy road surface. In extreme circumstances, a driver may attempt to jackknife the vehicle deliberately to halt it following brake failure. Trailer swing When a trailer skids to one side, this is known as a trailer swing or trailer slew. This can occur on a slippery road surface, often where there is a cant. This is not the same as jackknifing and is not as serious, as the trailer will move back into line as the vehicle continues forwards. ''Jacknife'' is a 1989 American film directed by David Jones and starring Robert De Niro, Ed Harris and Kathy Baker. The film focuses on a small, serious story, with emphasis on characterization and the complex tension between people in a close relationship. Stephen Metcalfe, upon whose play ''Strange Snow'' (1982) the film was based, wrote the screenplay. Harris was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance. Plot Joseph Megessey (known to most as Megs) is a Vietnam war veteran suffering post-Vietnam stress syndrome who is having trouble fitting in with society. NCIS (season 7)
The seventh season of the police procedural drama '' NCIS'' premiered on September 22, 2009 with '' NCIS: Los Angeles'' Season 1 premiering afterwards. At the end of season six, Ziva had left the ''NCIS'' team in Israel, returning to work as a Mossad officer. In the closing seconds of that season, Ziva was shown to have been captured and tortured for information about ''NCIS''. In the first episode of season seven, Ziva is rescued by Gibbs, Tony and McGee and upon her return to Washington, she eventually becomes an NCIS agent after resigning from Mossad for good. Much of the season's story arc then focuses on the Mexican Drug War and Colonel Merton Bell (Robert Patrick), a suspected murderer who hired the lawyer M. Allison Hart to represent him.
