Jackie Chan (politician)
Jackie Chan Chai-keung (; born 7 November 1938) is a former member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong and Mong Kok District Board (now Yau Tsim Mong District Council). Biography Chan was born in Hong Kong in 1938. He graduated from the Queen Elizabeth School, Hong Kong, Queen Elizabeth School and continued his study in civil engineering at the University of New South Wales in Australia. He is the member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in England, Engineers Australia, Institution of Engineers in Australia and Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He set up his own firm, Chan Chai Keung Architect & Engineer Co. 1994 Hong Kong Local Elections
The 1994 Hong Kong District Board elections were held on 18 September 1994 for all 18 districts of Hong Kong and 346 members from directly elected constituencies. It was the last district-level elections in the colonial period before the handover of Hong Kong in 1997. It was the first elections to be held after the abolition of the appointed seats as proposed by the new electoral arrangements, as the last step of the democratisation by the then Governor Chris Patten before the handover. Despite set against the British-Chinese dispute over Hong Kong's political reform, the election was influenced by local issues such as bus fares and garbage collection. The turnout of 33.1 per cent, slightly higher than the 32.5 per cent turnout for the 1991 District Board elections. The 1985 Hong Kong Legislative Council election was an indirect election for members of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo) held on 26 September 1985. It was the first ever election of the Legislative Council in Hong Kong which marked the beginning of the Hong Kong representative democracy.
