Jackie Basehart
John Anthony Carmine Michael "Jackie" Basehart (11 October 1951 – 16 May 2015) was an American actor. Life and career Born in Santa Monica, California, Basehart was the son of actor Richard Basehart and actress Valentina Cortese, . who had met while making a film together. For a few years, between the mid-1970s and the early 1980s, he was among the most requested young actors in Italian cinema, appearing in all sorts of films, even though mainly in supporting roles. At that time he was hailed for "genius and recklessness" because of his excesses, which had ample space in the Italian gossip columns. Last years and death Struck by a Supranuclear Palsy, which progressively involved difficulty in swallowing, obesity, several hospitalizations and operations, and gradual paralysis, he died at his home in Milan on 16 May 2015, at age 63, predeceasing his mother. Valentina Cortese
Valentina Cortese (1 January 1923 – 10 July 2019) was an Italian actress. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in François Truffaut's ''Day for Night'' (1973). Personal life Cortese was born in Milan to a family from Stresa, Piedmont. In 1940, she met conductor Victor de Sabata, who was 31 years older and married with children. She left high school to follow him to Rome, and there she graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art. They separated in 1948. Cortese married Richard Basehart, her co-star in ''The House on Telegraph Hill'', in 1951, and had one son with him, the actor Jackie Basehart; they divorced in 1960. She never remarried. Jackie Basehart died in Milan in 2015, predeceasing Cortese. Cortese died on 10 July 2019, aged 96. ''Festival'' ( 축제 - ''Chukje'') is a 1996 South Korean drama film directed by Im Kwon-taek, and based on the novel of the same title by Lee Cheong-jun. Synopsis A famous writer, Lee Joon-seop, returns to his hometown to attend his mother's funeral. Lee's illegitimate niece, who has been ostracized from the family, has also returned home for the funeral. While the funeral ceremonies take place, various old family conflicts reassert themselves. During the action of the story, a parallel children's story written by Lee is read by the illegitimate niece. The story describes a grandmother who gives her life force to her growing granddaughter, resulting in the grandmother becoming gradually younger until she reverts into an infant and finally leaves for the next world.
