John "Jack" Young was a professional association footballer who played in the Southern Football League for Bristol Rovers F.C., Bristol Rovers. He was signed from Kilmarnock F.C., Kilmarnock in May 1906, where he had become known as a clever and pacey Forward (association football), forward, and spent the 1906–07 Southern Football League, 1906–07 season with Bristol Rovers before leaving them to join Notts County F.C., Notts County in 1907. He was Bristol Rovers' top goalscorer during his only season with them, with fourteen goals. Hurlford (Scottish Gaelic: ''Baile Àtha Cliath'') is a village in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It has a population of 4,968. Hurlford's former names include Whirlford and Hurdleford. The village was named Whirlford as a result of a ford crossing the River Irvine east of Hurlford Cross, near Shawhill. It shares its name in Gaelic, Baile Àtha Cliath ("The Ford of the Hurdles") with the Irish capital Dublin. The census locality is called Hurlford and Crookedholm.
