Charles A. "Jack" Wright (October 30, 1871 – October 27, 1931) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Washington in 1901 and at the University of Kentucky in 1903, compiling a career college football record of 10–4. Wright later worked as a judge after earning his degree from Columbia Law School in 1902. He died in 1931 after suffering a heart attack. At the time of his death, he was candidate for the Cayuga County judge as well as the city recorder for Auburn, New York Auburn is a city in Cayuga County, New York, United States. Jack Wright (character)
Jack Wright was the hero of a popular series of Victorian science fiction dime novels and story papers written by Luis Senarens, the so-called "American Jules Verne". A few stories are also credited to Francis W. Doughty. Jack appeared in original stories from in 1891 to 1896 in 120 novels. He first appeared in The Boys' Star Library No. 216, July 18, 1891, "Jack Wright, the Boy Inventor; or, Hunting for a Sunken Treasure". Senarens also popularized the Frank Reade dime novel series, having taken the reins from Harry Enton (real name Harold Cohen). Jack Wright appeared in Frank Tousey's ''Boys of New York'' and ''Boys' Star Library'', and then migrated to ''Golden Weekly'' and ''Happy Days'' story papers. These stories were later reprinted in the dime novel '' Pluck and Luck''. Jack Wright is one of the so-called Edisonade characters. Jack Wright (born ''John Wright'', 1850–1929) in Waverton, Cheshire, the eldest son of Joseph and Anne Wright of Avenue Farm, previous of The White Horse Inn, Waverton. Initially employed as a stonemason in a local sandstone quarry he moved to Ditton, Cheshire and started to establish his kennels for training greyhounds for coursing. By 1891 he moved to Scotland and for many years he acted as dog trainer to Mr Leonard Pilkington of Cavens, Kirkbean (founder of the Pilkington glass firm). He was appointed manager at Mersehead Farm (now an RSPB nature reserve), where he resided for a number of years, his brother Joe Wright, taking over the training of the dogs for Mr. Pilkington. John David "Jack" Wright (25 January 1927 – 28 August 1998) was an Australian politician and Deputy Premier of South Australia under John Bannon from 1982 to 1985. Wright represented the House of Assembly seat of Adelaide for the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party from 1971 to 1985. Wright was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 1986 Australia Day Honours for "service to politics, industrial relations and the community". Wright was born in Toowoomba, Queensland. He was educated at Mount Carmel College in Charters Towers, but left school early to become a shearer by trade. He became involved with the Australian Workers' Union in 1942 and was involved with the union in many capacities throughout his life, including as secretary of their Queensland shearers' strike committee in 1945, variously holding every position in its Broken Hill, New South Wales branch between 1949 and 1957, and then as its organiser in Port Augusta, South Australia ...

John Alexander Wright M.D., C.M. (November 11, 1901 – September 21, 1949) was a Canadian tennis player and physician and surgeon. He won the singles title at the Canadian Open in 1927, 1929 and 1931. His tennis game was characterized by a powerful service and groundstrokes. Wright captured the Canadian Open tennis tournament singles title three times, in 1927, 1929, and 1931. He won the doubles title four times with his Davis Cup teammate Willard Crocker in 1923, 1925, and 1929, and once with Marcel Rainville, in 1931. At one point in 1927 he was ranked third in the world, the highest ranking achieved by a Canadian singles player until Milos Raonic in 2016. Wright was also Canada's top ranked tennis player for five years (1926-29 and 1931). John Wright (11 August 1926 – 22 June 2005) was an English professional footballer who played as a defender – specifically, a full back. He spent eleven years with Blackpool in the 1940s and 1950s, making 157 league appearances and scoring one goal. He made his debut for Blackpool, who were then managed by Joe Smith, on 6 September 1948, in a 1–1 draw with Derby County at Bloomfield Road. He went on to make a further five appearances during the 1948–49 league campaign, deputising for Ron Suart. John Wright (24 September 1904 – 11 January 1989), credited professionally as Jackie Wright, also nicknamed Little Jackie and Uncle Jackie, was a Northern Irish comedian.
