Jack Winchester (ice Hockey)
John Alexander (Jack) "Winny" Winchester (May 21, 1879 – May 7, 1911) was a professional ice hockey player who played 93 games in various professional and amateur leagues, including the National Hockey Association (NHA) and International Professional Hockey League (IPHL). Amongst the teams he played with were the Montreal Shamrocks, Winnipeg Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Professionals. A goaltender with the Pittsburgh Pros from 1904–1907, he posted a record of 34-29 with the team. He died of acute diabetes in Edmonton Edmonton ( ) is the capital city of the Canadian province of Alberta. In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The goaltender mostly plays in or near the area in front of the net called the ''Ice hockey rink#Crease, goal crease'' (often referred to simply as '' the crease''). Goaltenders tend to stay at or beyond the top of the crease to cut down on the angle of shots.
