Jack White (footballer Born 1924)
John White (17 March 1924 – July 2011) was an English footballer who played as a centre half. He made over 420 Football League appearances in the years after the Second World War. Career White, a former miner, played locally for Broadworth Main and Frickley Colliery in Yorkshire. He signed for Aldershot from Sheffield FC in July 1944. Pat Beasley signed White in October 1952 from Aldershot for £5,300 for Bristol City. Jack White immediately displaced Dennis Roberts both at the heart of the defence and as captain of the side. Jack White made his Bristol City debut at centre half in a 4–0 win v Gillingham on 11 October 1952. Bristol City briefly reached 2nd place during the 1952–53 season but finished in 5th position. White made 33 appearances scoring 4 goals in his first season with Bristol City. Ernie Peacock
Ernest Gilbert Peacock (born 11 December 1924 and died 12 February 1973 in Bristol) was an English footballer who played as a half back. He made over 340 Football League appearances in the years after the Second World War. Career Ernie Peacock played locally for Barleyfield school and Syston in Bristol. Peacock played as a guest for Bath City during the Second World War before he signed for Notts County in the summer of 1945. Jackie Milburn
John Edward Thompson "Jackie" Milburn (11 May 1924 – 9 October 1988) was a football player principally associated with Newcastle United and England, though he also spent four seasons at Linfield. He was also known as Wor Jackie (particularly in North East England, a Geordie dialectal). Cousin to the mother of Jack and Bobby Charlton, Milburn played two trial matches at St James' Park as a 19-year-old in 1943. In the second of these, he scored six second half goals. Milburn made his competitive debut in the FA Cup in the 1945–46 season and was initially deployed on the left wing as a supplier to Charlie Wayman. However, Wayman was dropped before a 4–0 defeat to eventual winners Charlton Athletic in a 1947 FA Cup semi-final and when he afterwards vowed not to play for United again, manager George Martin made the decision to switch Milburn to centre forward. Rotherham United
Rotherham United Football Club, nicknamed The Millers, is a professional football club based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England, which compete in the . Leonard Roy White (23 March 1930 – 17 June 1994) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre-forward, most noted for playing at Newcastle United. He is Newcastle United's third highest goalscorer of all-time. Biography Born in Skellow, West Riding of Yorkshire, a small village near Doncaster, White started his career at Upton Colliery before moving to Rotherham United and progressing through the Millers youth and reserve teams. H J "Harry" Dolman OBE (6 August 1897– November 9, 1977) was a well-known Bristol businessman, starting off as an engineer who later bought out the firm he worked for, Brecknell, Dolman & Rogers Ltd. The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England.
