Jack Tuck
Jack Manson Tuck (13 May 1907 – 23 March 1967) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A utility back, Tuck represented and briefly at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks The New Zealand national rugby union team, commonly known as the All Blacks ( mi, Ōpango), represents New Zealand in men's international rugby union, which is considered the country's national sport. Tikokino
Tikokino is a town in the Central Hawke's Bay District on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located northwest of Waipawa and southwest of Hastings. The township is located on State Highway 50. The township was founded by the Government in 1860. Hampden, as it was originally called, began as sawmilling centre for local forests, becoming a service town for the farms which took their place. By the early 2000s, most residents were working at a nearby meat processing plant, dairy farming, or for local growers. Tikokino has eight buildings registered by Heritage New Zealand, including the Gwavas Station Homestead and Garden as Category I. Whangaroa
Whangaroa is a settlement on Whangaroa Harbour in the Far North District of New Zealand. It is 8 km north-west of Kaeo and 35 km north-west of Kerikeri. The harbour is almost landlocked and is popular both as a fishing spot in its own right and as a base for deep-sea fishing. History The harbour was the scene of one of the most notorious incidents in early New Zealand history, the Boyd massacre. In December 1809 almost all the crew and 70 passengers were killed as ''utu'' (revenge) for the mistreatment of Te Ara, the son of a Ngāti Uru chief, who had been in the crew of the ship. Several days later the ship was burnt out after gunpowder was accidentally ignited. Relics of the ''Boyd'' are now in a local museum.
