Jack Sullivan (footballer, Born 1919)
Jack P. Sullivan (2 April 1919 – 19 June 1990) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Sullivan, recruited from Ormond Amateur, started out at Richmond as a centre half-forward but was later used in the ruck and at centre half-back. It was as a centre half-back that Sullivan played in the 1942 VFL Grand Final, but he wasn't able to steer his side to a win. He didn't feature at all in the 1944 and 1945 seasons, then played the first six rounds in 1946, before transferring to Williamstown. From 1947 to 1950, Sullivan was captain-coach of Hobart and led them to a TANFL premiership in the last of those years. Ormond Amateur Football Club
Ormond Amateur Football Club is an Australian rules football club, located 14 km south east of Melbourne in the suburb of Ormond. Ormond is the second-oldest suburban club in the Victorian Amateur Football Association. The club was founded in 1931 by Leslie Edward Smith. In 2008 Ormond welcomed back recently retired AFL player Matthew Robbins as player and assistant coach. After competing in B grade in season 2009, Ormond were narrowly relegated and subsequently moved down to C grade for 2010. In 2008 the Club won the C Grade premiership, defeating Hampton Rovers 15.12 (102 points) to 9.10 (64 points). History The club was founded in the early years of the Great Depression. William Leitch Medal
The William Leitch Medal, named after the highly regarded former Australian rules player and Tasmanian Football Administrator William Douglas Leitch (1863-1943), was an annual award which was presented to the best and fairest player in the TANFL/TFL Statewide League. At various times prior to 1930 and between 1935 and 1939 the TFL award was known by other names. From 1942 to 1944 the competition was suspended due to World War Two. Following the collapse of both the Tasmanian Football League (TFL) in 1998 and its replacement competitions (the TSFL in 1999 and the SWL in December 2000), the award was suspended until its revival in 2004, awarded to the best and fairest player in the SFL Premier League and from 2009, awarded to the best and fairest player in the SFL. The Tasmanian State League (TSL), colloquially known as the "Tasmanian Football League (TFL)" (formerly known as the "Tasmanian Australian National Football League (TANFL)" and several other short-term names) is the highest ranked Australian rules football league in Tasmania, Australia. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. Richmond traditionally wears a black guernsey with a yellow sash. The club song, " We're From Tigerland", is well known for its "yellow and black" refrain.
