Jack Shirley
Jack Shirley is a Grammy Award nominated American record producer, audio engineer and musician. He is known for his analog driven aesthetic, and work with eclectic artists, including Deafheaven, whose 2013 sophomore album ''Sunbather'' received widespread critical acclaim. Shirley also worked with various other music acts, including Jeff Rosenstock, Loma Prieta, Bosse-de-Nage, Punch, Whirr, Shinobu, La Bella, State Faults and Frameworks. Besides his production work, he plays guitar for the bands Comadre and Everybody Row. Shirley is also the owner of The Atomic Garden Recording Studio, located in Oakland, California. A commissure () is the location at which two objects abut or are joined. The term is used especially in the fields of anatomy and biology. * The most common usage of the term refers to the brain's commissures, of which there are five. Such a commissure is a bundle of commissural fibers as a tract that crosses the midline at its level of origin or entry (as opposed to a decussation of fibers that cross obliquely). Sway (Whirr Album)
Sway is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Whirr, released on September 23, 2014 by Graveface Records. The album marked the departure of previous lead singer Alexandra Morte, as well as the first release with Devin Nunes who replaced Sergio Miranda on drums. It was produced by Jack Shirley. Release and reception On July 11, 2014, the band released the song "Mumble" on SoundCloud as a preview of the new album. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, Sway received an average score of 74, based on six reviews, which indicates "generally favorable reviews". Frameworks are an American post-hardcore band from Gainesville, Florida that formed in 2011. The band released its debut album, ''Loom'', thorough Topshelf Records in 2014 before signing to Deathwish Inc. for its second studio album, ''Smother'', released on July 8, 2016. History Guitarist Cory Fischer invited vocalist Luke Pate to join his Gainesville, Florida metal band a week before they were set to record their debut EP after their previous vocalist quit. This metal band would eventually evolve into the screamo/post-hardcore band Frameworks in 2011. ''Deafheaven / Bosse-de-Nage'' is a split EP between the American, San Francisco Bay Area black metal bands Deafheaven and Bosse-de-Nage. The album was released in an LP format through The Flenser on November 20, 2012. Deafheaven contributed a cover song, cover of the post-rock band Mogwai's "Punk Rock" and "Cody" from their 1999 album ''Come On Die Young'', while Bosse-de-Nage contributed the original composition, "A Mimesis of Purpose". Joyce Manor is an American punk rock band from Torrance, California, formed in 2008. The band consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Barry Johnson, guitarist Chase Knobbe, and bassist/backing vocalist Matt Ebert. Since their formation, the band have released six studio albums – the most recent of which, '' 40 oz. to Fresno'', was released in June 2022. The band's sound is a mix of power pop, pop punk and emo, with ''Pitchfork'' describing the band as writers of "very short songs and spiked alt-rock melodies with day-drunk surrealism, like a SoCal Guided By Voices that exclusively drank alcopops." Classics of Love is an American punk rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, formed in 2008. The band was together until 2012 and consisted of singer Jesse Michaels (formerly of Operation Ivy (band), Operation Ivy, Big Rig (band), Big Rig, and Common Rider) with guitarist Mike Huguenor, bassist Morgan Herrell, and drummer Max Feshbach (who comprise San Jose, California, San Jose punk trio Hard Girls). Signed to Asian Man Records, Classics of Love released their debut, the ''Walking in Shadows EP'', in 2009, followed by a single (music), single in 2010 and an eponymously titled album in 2012. Broadway Calls is an American punk rock band from Rainier, Oregon. The band has released four records and toured the United States and Canada extensively and often. More recently the band has completed tours in Europe. Broadway Calls have toured with such bands as Alkaline Trio, The Gaslight Anthem, Rancid, The Bouncing Souls, and Bad Religion. ''Roads to Judah'' is the debut studio album by the American blackgaze band Deafheaven. The album was released by Deathwish Inc. on April 26, 2011. ''Roads to Judah'' was recorded in four days between December 2010 and January 2011. About The album title is a reference to N Judah, one of the busiest lines in the San Francisco transit system. Lyrically, the album is about Clarke's substance abuse. Reception ''Roads to Judah'' was met with generally positive reviews.
