Jack Ryan (FBI Agent)
John C. Ryan (born 19 June 1938) is a former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent and police officer.Antony SchmitzThe Spy Who Said No Mother Jones Magazine, April 1988, pp. 16-19. He had been an FBI agent between 1966 and 1987 before being fired for refusing to investigate nonviolent activists. He lost his job in September 1987 ten months short of retirement. Nonviolent resistance (NVR), or nonviolent action, sometimes called civil resistance, is the practice of achieving goals such as social change through symbolic protests, civil disobedience, economic or political noncooperation, satyagraha, constructive program, or other methods, while refraining from violence and the threat of violence. This type of action highlights the desires of an individual or group that feels that something needs to change to improve the current condition of the resisting person or group.
