Jack George Robertson (November 11, 1928 – December 7, 1971) was a provincial politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 1971, sitting with the governing Progressive Conservative caucus, until his death on December 7, 1971. Political career Robertson ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in the 1971 Alberta general election. Stettler was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1909 to 1993. History The Stettler electoral district was formed in 1909 from the eastern portions of the Gleichen, Rosebud, Innisfail, Red Deer and Lacombe electoral districts. The district is named after the Town of Stettler. The Stettler electoral district was abolished in 1993 and combined with portions of the Lacombe electoral district to form Lacombe-Stettler electoral district. Galen Norris
Galen Clark Norris (November 7, 1915 – August 10, 2001) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1959 to 1971. Early life Galen Clark Noris was born on November 7, 1915. He resided in the small town of Erskine, Alberta, Erskine, Alberta just west of Stettler, Alberta, Stettler. Political career First term Norris was first elected to serve in the Alberta Legislature in a by-election held in the Stettler provincial electoral district on November 16, 1956. The by-election was caused by the death of former Social Credit MLA John E. Clark. Norris ran against a single opponent, Murray Rairdan representing the provincial Alberta Liberal Party, Liberals. Graham Harle
Graham Lisle Harle (December 9, 1931 – February 9, 2022) was a British-born Canadian provincial level politician from Alberta. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from February 14, 1972, to 1986 sitting with the governing Progressive Conservative caucus. During his time in the legislature Harle served in a couple of different portfolios in the cabinet of Premier Peter Lougheed. Early life Harle was born on December 9, 1931, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England, to James Alfred Harle and wife Constance Balfour. Harle attended Denstone College before moving to Edmonton in 1947 at the age of 16 with his parents. He finished high school in Edmonton and attended the University of Alberta where he completed an agriculture degree and later law. Harle contracted polio in 1952 and was hospitalized for five months. The 1971 Alberta general election was the seventeenth general election held in the Province of Alberta, Canada on August 30, 1971, to elect seventy-five members of the Alberta Legislature to form the 17th Alberta Legislative Assembly. The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta led by Peter Lougheed won 49 of 75 seats with 46.4 per cent of the popular vote in the new legislature to form a majority government. Lougheed's Progressive Conservatives defeated the incumbent Social Credit Party led by Premier Harry Strom who won 25 seats with 41.1 per cent of the popular vote. The 1971 election ushered in the Progressive Conservative dynasty in Alberta, which continuously held a majority government for 44 years from 1971 to 2015.
