Jack Miller (pastor)
Cecil John Miller (December 28, 1928 – April 8, 1996), usually known as Jack Miller, was an American Presbyterian pastor. He served as pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, and taught practical theology at Westminster Theological Seminary. Early life and education Miller was born on December 28, 1928, in Gold Beach, Oregon. He married Rose Marie Carlsen in 1950, and graduated from San Francisco State College in 1953. In 1966 he received an M.Div. from Westminster Theological Seminary and in 1978 earned his Ph.D. in English literature from the University of the Pacific. Career Starting in 1955, Miller taught at Ripon Christian School for five years in Ripon, California. He was ordained as a minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in 1959, and worked as a chaplain for several years in Stockton, California. Westminster Theological Seminary
Westminster Theological Seminary is a Protestant theological seminary in the Reformed theological tradition in Glenside, Pennsylvania. It was founded by members of the faculty of Princeton Theological Seminary in 1929 after Princeton chose to take a liberal direction during the Fundamentalist–Modernist controversy. History Westminster Theological Seminary was formed in 1929, largely under the leadership and funding of J. Gresham Machen. Though independent, it has a close relationship with the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, which Machen helped found in 1936. P&R Publishing is an evangelical, Reformed, Christian publishing company located in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. P&R publishes books that promote biblical concepts and Christian lifestyle according to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. History In 1930, Samuel G. Craig, J. Gresham Machen, and James Schrader founded Presbyterian and Reformed Publishing Co. P&R's initial publication was a 24-page monthly periodical called ''Christianity Today'' ("A Presbyterian Journal Devoted to Stating, Defending and Furthering the Gospel in the Modern World"). The periodical, which featured articles on Christianity and theology, book reviews, sermons, news in the Presbyterian church, and letters to the editor, was published intermittently until 1949.
