William John "Jack" McClelland (11 August 1930 – 2004) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Rochdale, Swindon Town and Stoke City. Career McClelland was born in Colchester and played for local side Colchester United. He impressed in the club's reserve side and was spotted by scouts at First Division Stoke City who paid a small fee to acquire his signature. However, he failed to impress managing just four matches in 1952–53 and none the following season. John "Jack" McClelland (19 May 1940 – 15 March 1976) was a Northern Irish international footballer who played as a goalkeeper. McClelland played professionally in England for Arsenal, Fulham Fulham () is an area of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham in West London, England, southwest of Charing Cross. It lies on the north bank of the River Thames, bordering Hammersmith, Kensington and Chelsea. John Gordon "Jack" McClelland CC (July 30, 1922 – June 14, 2004) was a Canadian publisher. He was known for promoting Canadian writers as president of the McClelland and Stewart publishing house. Education and military service Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, he attended the University of Toronto Schools, St. Andrew's College (1937–1940), and then the University of Toronto, where he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, interrupting his studies to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Battle of the Atlantic. Career McClelland began working for McClelland and Stewart, his father's company, in 1946, becoming president in 1961. Under his control, the company promoted Canadian literature and encouraged Canadian authors such as Margaret Atwood, Pierre Berton, Leonard Cohen, Marian Engel, Farley Mowat and Mordecai Richler.
