Jack London Lake
Jack London Lake (russian: Озеро Джека Лондона, Ozero Dzheka Londona) is a mountain lake located in the Yagodninsky District of Magadan Oblast, Russia. It was named in 1932 in honor of American writer, journalist and socialist activist Jack London by Russian geologist P. Skornyakov, following the wish of Yuri Bilibin, the head of the first geological expedition to Kolyma, who had expressed the idea to name one of the yet unnamed geographical locations in the Far Northeast after the writer. Geography The lake lies above sea level between the Angachak Range (russian: Ангачак) to the west and the Uaza-Ina to the east, on the upper reaches of the Kolyma basin. The outflow is the Kiuyel-Sien, a Kolyma River tributary. The lake contains four islands. There is a weather station on Vera Island (russian: Остров Вера). Yagodninsky District
Yagodninsky District (russian: Я́годнинский райо́н) is an administrativeLaw #1292-OZ and municipalLaw #511-OZ district (raion), one of the eight in Magadan Oblast, Russia. It is located in the western central part of the oblast. The area of the district is . Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Yagodnoye. Population: 15,833 ( 2002 Census); The population of Yagodnoye accounts for 42.8% of the district's total population. Geography The district borders with Susumansky District in the north, Srednekansky District in the east, Khasynsky District in the south, and with Tenkinsky District in the west.
