Lieutenant Colonel Jack Lewis or C. Jack Lewis USMC retired (November 13, 1924 – May 24, 2009), was a former Marine, screenwriter, author of 12 books and an estimated 6,000 magazine articles and short stories, He was the co-founder and editor of ''Gun World'' magazine and continued contributing articles to that publication until the time of his death. Lewis wrote under the name C. Jack Lewis due to four other writers with the name of Jack Lewis. Biography Lewis was born in Iowa in 1924. He sold his first short story, "The Cherokee Kid's Last Stand", at the age of 14 for $5.00, which Lewis thought was better money than a field hand's wage, which was then a dollar a day. Buoyed by his success, Lewis submitted an unsolicited ''Andy Hardy'' screenplay that was rejected by MGM. He did not sell any more stories until he was 22. Jack Lewis (born January 20, 1964) is an American author and military veteran. Lewis was born in Portland, Oregon, and was a United States Army Staff Sergeant in the Iraq War in 2004 and 2005. Lewis' writing was included in the book ''Operation Homecoming'', and in the Oscar-nominated documentary '' Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience'' in which he both appears, and is credited as a writer. He has been a contributor to a number of publications including Crosscut.com, the ''Seattle Post-Intelligencer'' and ''Motorcyclist'' magazine where he writes the "Behind Bars" column. John Lewis (26 August 1919 – 2002) was an English professional footballer who played as a half-back in the Football League for Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Reading. He also played non-league football for Kettering Town. Playing career Lewis was born in Walsall and began his youth career with West Bromwich Albion. He signed for Crystal Palace in the 1938 close season and made his debut – and only senior appearance before the league was interrupted by the Second World War – in April 1939 against Bristol Rovers. Lewis became a first team regular in the 1946–47 season, when he was ever-present and made over 30 appearances in each of the next two seasons. His form was such that he was named in a London select XI to play in Brussels in 1948. Jackie Lewis (born 1 November 1936) is a British former racing driver, born in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Career Lewis' racing career began in Formula Three. In 1958 Lewis bought a Formula Three Cooper-Norton from Cheltenham based Ivor Bueb and made his debut at Mallory Park, remarkably coming fourth. At Brands Hatch he made front page news for surviving a crash - a lucky photographer captured Jack’s upside-down Cooper showing Jack’s hand appearing to hold the car up. Just a week later he came first at Full Sutton and then won again at Oulton Park. In his first season in Formula 3 he raced 13 times - he won three of his races and was on the podium for a further four. Jack Windsor Lewis (1926 – 11 July 2021) was a British phonetician. He is best known for his work on the phonetics of English and the teaching of English pronunciation to foreign learners. His blog postings on English phonetics and phoneticians are prolific and widely read. Early life Windsor Lewis was born in Cardiff, and educated at local schools. Jack Lewis, Baron Lewis of Newnham, FRS, HonFRSC (13 February 1928 – 17 July 2014) was an English chemist working mainly in the area of inorganic chemistry.
