Jack Johnson (musician)
Jack Hody Johnson (born May 18, 1975) is an American singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and former professional surfer. Johnson is known primarily for his work in the soft rock and acoustic pop genres. In 2001, he achieved commercial success after the release of his debut album, ''Brushfire Fairytales''. Johnson has reached number one on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart with his albums ''Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George'' in 2006, ''Sleep Through the Static'' in 2008, ''To the Sea'' in 2010 and ''From Here to Now to You'' in 2013. His album ''In Between Dreams'' peaked at number two on the chart in 2005 and again in 2013. Johnson is active in environmentalism and sustainability, often with a focus on the world's oceans. North Shore (Oahu)
The North Shore, in the context of geography of the Island of Oahu, refers to the north-facing coastal area of Oahu between Kaena Point and Kahuku. The largest settlement is Haleiwa. This area is best known for its massive waves, attracting surfers from all around the globe. Greening is the process of transforming living environments, and also artifacts such as a space, a lifestyle or a brand image, into a more environmentally friendly version (i.e. 'greening your home' or 'greening your office'). Specific definitions of sustainability are difficult to agree on and have varied in the literature and over time. The album received generally mixed reviews from music critics. However, the album achieved considerable commercial success. ''Sleep Through the Static'' is the fourth studio album by singer-songwriter Jack Johnson, released in the United States on February 5, 2008. The album was announced on Johnson's website as renovation began for the release of the album. It was recorded at the Los Angeles Solar Powered Plastic Plant, which makes it Johnson's first album made outside of Hawaii. It was produced by JP Plunier. The album was played live for the first time at the BBC in December for a select number of fans. Despite having been reviewed mostly unenthusiastically by professional music critics, worldwide sales of the album were on par with Johnson's previous albums.
