Jack Harris (singer-songwriter)
Jack Harris (born 20 April 1986) is a Welsh-born folk singer-songwriter, musician, and poet. He is multi-award-winning, most notably winning the 2005 New Folk Songwriting Competition at Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, the first non-American to do so. Jack Harris has been described as "a priest of song" by singer Anaïs Mitchell. He has released three albums. His second album, ''The Flame and the Pelican'', featured at number six in the July 2011 EuroAmericanaChart. He has made several appearances at the Green Man Festival, and opened for such folk musicians as Martin Simpson, Tracy Grammer, Dick Gaughan, Martin Carthy Martin Carthy MBE (born 21 May 1941) is an English folk singer and guitarist who has remained one of the most influential figures in British traditional music, inspiring contemporaries such as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, and later artists such as ..., and Dave Swarbrick. Builth Wells
Builth Wells (; cy, Llanfair-ym-Muallt) is a market town and community in the county of Powys and historic county of Brecknockshire (Breconshire), mid Wales, lying at the confluence of rivers Wye and Irfon, in the Welsh (or upper) part of the Wye Valley. In 2011 it had a population of 2,568. Etymology ''Builth'' is a longstanding anglicization of the Old Welsh ''Buellt/Buallt'', which combines ''bu'' () " ox" and ''gellt'' (later ''gwellt'') " lea or leas". The town added "Wells" in the 19th century when its springs were promoted as a visitor attraction. Its modern Welsh name ''Llanfair-ym-Muallt'' means "Saint Mary in Ox Leas". In the centre of the town is a large mural (about by wide) depicting Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, who was killed at the Battle of Orewin Bridge on 11 December 1282. Dave Swarbrick
David Cyril Eric Swarbrick (5 April 1941 – 3 June 2016) was an English folk musician and singer-songwriter. His style has been copied or developed by almost every British and many world folk violin players who have followed him. He was one of the most highly regarded musicians produced by the second British folk revival, contributing to some of the most important groups and projects of the 1960s, and he became a much sought-after session musician, which led him throughout his career to work with many of the major figures in folk and folk rock music. A member of Fairport Convention from 1969, he is credited with assisting them to produce their seminal album ''Liege & Lief'' (1969) which initiated the British folk rock movement. This, and his subsequent career, helped create greater interest in British traditional music and was highly influential within mainstream rock.
