Jack Gray (basketball)
Jack Gray (May 12, 1911 – March 7, 1992) was an American college basketball player and coach. Gray played for the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team from 1933 to 1935. As a player, he set a Southwest Conference record with 32 points in 1933 which stood for 16 years. Gray was a First-Team All-American guard in 1935 and was All-SWC all three years of his varsity career. He was known for his one-handed "push" shot, a precursor of the jump shot. With one year of coaching experience, Gray took over the coaching job at age 25. In his first six years as coach beginning in 1937, he led the Longhorns to five winning seasons and led the Longhorns to their first Elite Eight in the first NCAA tournament in 1939. After returning from World War II, Gray led the Longhorns to their first Final Four in the 1947 NCAA tournament. He coached Basketball Hall of Famer Slater Martin from 1944 to 1949. Jack Gray (Canadian Football)
John "Jack" Gray (May 16, 1927 – March 30, 2018) was a Canadian football player who played for the Toronto Argonauts. He won the Grey Cup with them in 1952. He also attended and played football at the University of Toronto. After his football career, Jack moved to Deep River, Ontario Deep River is a town in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. Located along the Ottawa River, it lies about north-west of Ottawa on the Trans-Canada Highway. Deep River is opposite the Laurentian Mountains and the Province of Quebec. The name ''Deep R ... where he had a long career as a teacher at Mackenzie High School and Superintendent of the Renfrew County School Board. Jack Gray is a New Zealand choreographer, researcher and teacher of contemporary Māori dance. Background Gray was born in 1977 in Te Atatu Peninsula, Auckland, New Zealand. He affiliates to the Māori iwi Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Porou. He studied at Unitec completing the performing and screen arts bachelor's degree in 1998. Later in 2004 he did a diploma of computer graphic design at Natcoll Design Technology New Zealand. He lives and works in Auckland. Career Gray founded Atamira Dance Company with Louise Potiki Bryant in 2000. Gray also started his own dance company called Jack Gray Dance. Works created with this company include ''View From the Gods'' that was in the Tempo Dance Festival in 2006 and ''Tuawhenua'' which had a season at BATS Theatre in 2008 featuring dancers Shannon Mutu and Nancy Wijohn and a combination of electronic music with traditional Māori instruments performed by Charlotte90 and Alistair Fraser. The Dolly Gray impostor was an unknown American football player who played under the alias of Jack "Dolly" Gray, an end from Princeton University in 1922. He was rumored to be an All-American honoree in 1922; however, the only known player named Gray to be awarded consensus All-American honors at Princeton in 1922 was Howdy Gray, who was also an end. Under the alias of Gray, the impostor played in the National Football League in 1923 for the St. Louis All-Stars and the Green Bay Packers. In 1923, the impostor approached Ollie Kraehe, the owner and player-coach of the NFL's St. Louis All-Stars. Kraehe signed him to the All-Stars where the impostor played in three games. After witnessing the poor quality of play in what he thought was Dolly Gray, an All-American football star at Princeton, Kraehe discovered that he was lied to and that the man claiming to be Dolly Gray was actually an impostor. Jack Lukeman (born Seán Loughman 11 February 1973), usually simply known as Jack L, is an Irish songwriter, musician, record producer, vocal artist and broadcaster. History A native of Athy Co. Kildare Ireland, Jack Lukeman attended a youth club in Athy known as Aontas Ogra at the age of 12 years old, where he was involved in artistic ventures as well as playing music there. He left school at 15. After spending a short period in the family business he began playing music full-time at 18 cutting his teeth on the Bohemian busking scene around Europe in the early 90s.
