John Richmond Graham, known as Jack Graham (born 1868 – died 1932) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Aston Villa. Early career Jack Graham first came to notice as a footballer when, aged 18/19 he signed, as a youth player, for a local Football Club called Smethwick Centaur F.C. (There are no online records about this club) After one season Graham signed for Oldbury Broadwell F.C.. It is possible (there are no records on this club) that Oldbury Broadwell were a Railway Works Club. There was the Oldbury Carriage & Wagon Co.Ltd. that built rolling stock for the Railways. The Works were on Broadwell Road. Jack Graham moved to Aston Villa in 1889. Smethwick
Smethwick () is an industrial town in Sandwell, West Midlands, England. It lies west of Birmingham city centre. Historically it was in Staffordshire. In 2019, the ward of Smethwick had an estimated population of 15,246, while the wider built-up area subdivision has a population of 53,653. Sunderland () is a port city in Tyne and Wear, England. It is the City of Sunderland's administrative centre and in the historic county of Durham. The city is from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is on the River Wear's mouth to the North Sea. The river also flows through Durham roughly south-west of Sunderland City Centre. Sunderland were the winners of the league which was their first ever league success. At the beginning of the season Stoke had left the Football Alliance and rejoined the Football League. The 1890– 91 Football League was the third Football league season. After dominating and being crowned champions for the first two football league seasons Preston North End slipped to second and Everton won the league with a two-point gap. Meanwhile, there had been changes in the league since the last football league season, Stoke had not been re-elected to the football league, so joined the rival Football Alliance. They were replaced with Sunderland, who were nicknamed "the team of all talents" at the time. Lewis Campbell (footballer)
Lewis Campbell (April 1864 – 1938) was a Scottish footballer. He was pacey and difficult to defend against. Career Campbell played for Dumbarton, Helensburgh, Glasgow United, and Hibernian, before moving to England to play for Aston Villa in January 1890; at the time of the 1891 census he was a boarder in Birmingham along with compatriot and teammate John Baird. At Villa he earned an FA Cup runner-up medal in 1892 as he was unable to prevent West Bromwich Albion romping to victory 3–0 at The Oval. In August 1893, he joined Port Vale. He claimed 13 goals in 27 Second Division in the 1893–94 season, and became the first "Valiant" to score a hat-trick (he scored four goals) in the Football League in a 5–0 win over Walsall Town Swifts on 9 September. However, he left the Athletic Ground in 1894 because his wife did not like the Potteries area. He moved on to Walsall Town Swifts and then Burton Swifts. Ewood Park () is a football stadium in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, and the home of Blackburn Rovers F.C., founding members of the Football League and Premier League, who have played there since 1890. The Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League. The EFL is divided into the Championship, League One and League Two, with 24 clubs in each division, 72 in total, with promotion and relegation between them; the top Championship clubs change places with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier League, and the bottom clubs of League Two with the top clubs of the National League.
