Frank Joseph Floyd (who fought under name Jack Egan) (May 27, 1878 – March 15, 1950) was an American lightweight and welterweight boxer who competed in the early twentieth century. Biography He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 27, 1878. Egan won two medals in boxing at the 1904 Summer Olympics, a silver medal in the lightweight category losing to Harry Spanjer in the final and a tied bronze medal in the welterweight Welterweight is a weight class in combat sports. Jack Egan (Cork Hurler)
Thomas John "Jack" Egan (22 July 1904 – 31 January 1984) was an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Cork senior team. Born in Cork city, Egan initially played hurling for the local Blackpool club Glen Rovers. He arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Cork junior team. He joined the senior panel during the 1926 championship. Egan won two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship medals and two Munster Senior Hurling Championship. At club level, Egan won several championship medals in the different grades with Glen Rovers and later Blackrock. He retired from inter-county hurling following the conclusion of the 1928 championship. Jack Egan (Kilkenny Hurler)
John Egan (21 January 1921 - 2 December 1994) was an Irish hurler. His league and championship career with the Kilkenny senior hurling team lasted just one season. Biography Egan was born in Threecastles, County Kilkenny in 1921, son of Martin Egan who was a lifelong administrator with the North Kilkenny GAA Board. He quickly developed a love for hurling and was a member of the Threecastles team that won the Kilkenny Junior Championship in 1940. Around this time Egan took up employment with Kilkenny Woollen Mills and played with them in the Kilkenny Junior Championship. He played with the Kilkenny junior hurling team which won the All-Ireland Championship in 1946 before graduating to the senior team. On 7 September 1947, Egan won an All-Ireland Championship medal at senior level, as understudy to Jim Donegan, following a one-point defeat of Cork in the final. John "Jack" Egan is an American retired basketball player. His playing career is best remembered for his role on the 1962–63 Loyola Ramblers men's basketball team, which won the 1963 NCAA University Division basketball tournament, 1963 NCAA Championship. Egan was the lone white starting player on a team that broke racial barriers by starting four black players in an era when two or three was considered the maximum. After college, Egan played three years in the short-lived North American Basketball League (1964–1968), North American Basketball League before retiring from basketball to work as a lawyer. In 2002, Egan was inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame. The entire 1962–63 Loyola Ramblers team was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
