Jack Coughlin (author)
Jack Coughlin (born January 12, 1966) is a retired United States Marine Corps Gunnery sergeant and the author of the autobiography ''Shooter''. Early years Coughlin was born and raised in Waltham, Massachusetts, the youngest of five children. At a young age, Jack was temporarily blinded in his right eye (his shooting eye) when a sharp rock ricocheted from a fight between two older boys. His eye eventually healed and his sight in the eye was 20/10. At age 19, Coughlin decided to enlist in the Marine Corps. Military career Coughlin enlisted in the Marines in 1985 and completed his recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. His first experiences with operating firearms occurred during Marine Corps recruit training, including shooting a rifle. He attended Scout Sniper school but never graduated. Jack Coughlin (born 1932, Connecticut, USA) is an artist of Irish-American heritage who is best known for his portraits of literary figures and musicians. As a figurative artist and member of the National Academy of Design, Coughlin’s work is in many prominent collections including the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Collection of Fine Arts in Washington D.C., the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences in Virginia, the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts, the University of Colorado, the Philadelphia Free Public Library, Staedelsches Kunstinstitut, Frankfort, Germany, and the New University of Ulster, Coleraine, Northern Ireland. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut Coughlin studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. Jack Coughlin (ice Hockey)
John Joseph "Jack" Coughlin (June 21, 1892 – June 21, 1969) was a Canadian ice hockey player. After several years as an amateur player he turned professional in 1916, joining the Toronto Blueshirts of the National Hockey Association (NHA). The NHA was replaced by the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1917 to 1920, and Coughlin joined the Toronto Arenas for one season, winning the Stanley Cup with them in 1918. He took a one-year hiatus and returned in 1919 to play briefly with the Quebec Bulldogs, Montreal Canadiens, and Hamilton Tigers before retiring in 1921, having played 26 pro games: 7 in the NHA and 19 in the NHL.
