JVC Broadcasting (also known as JVC Media) is a privately owned company headquartered in Ronkonkoma, New York that owns five radio stations on Long Island, New York, and 12 FM stations in Florida. The company founded in 2008 derives its initials from its founder John Caracciolo. It is not related to the Japan Victor Company, the Japanese electronics giant with which it shares its initials. History The company has its roots with Caracciolo who has been with the frequency's for years and was the driving force behind classic alternative rock station WLIR 92.7 and has worked with many FM outlets on Long Island. Ronkonkoma ( ) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) on Long Island in the Town of Islip, New York, United States. Its population was 19,082 at the 2010 census. The Ronkonkoma post office has the ZIP Code 11779, and serves parts of several hamlets and CDPs adjacent to Ronkonkoma. The name "Ronkonkoma" comes from the nearby Lake Ronkonkoma, which in turn comes from an Algonquian expression meaning "boundary fishing-lake", also earlier written as "Raconkumake" and "Raconkamuck." WDYZ (660 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Altamonte Springs, Florida, and serving Greater Orlando. The station is owned by JVC Media and airs a hot talk radio format. The studios and offices are in Maitland, Florida. WDYZ's transmitter is off Charles Street in Longwood. The station uses a three-tower array. It transmits with 3,500 watts by day, but because AM 660 is a clear channel frequency reserved for WFAN in New York City, WDYZ must reduce power to 1,000 watts at night. Windermere is a town in Orange County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 3,030. It is part of the Orlando Metropolitan Statistical Area. History A Post Office opened at Windermere in 1888. The Post Office closed in 1901, and reopened in 1911. Windermere was established as a residential development in 1889 and chartered in 1925.
