Biography As a guitarist, songwriter and producer/engineer, Simo has worked with the Jack White (Beyoncé Lemonade sessions), Phil Lesh, Luther Dickinson, Cowboy Jack Clement, Dave Cobb, Chris Isaak and Baz Luhrmann on the soundtrack to his forthcoming Elvis biopic. SIMO (band)
SIMO was an American rock band which formed in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. The group was notable for having guitarist JD Simo, and is a psychedelic soul modern rock band that also incorporated extended improvisation into its live sets. They released one self-released album as well as a live EP and two studio albums for the Mascot Label Group. History In December 2010, bassist Frank Howard Swart contacted guitarist Simo about setting up a jam session with drummer Adam Abrashoff, with whom he had played with extensively. After growing dissatisfied with session work and backing other groups, Simo agreed to the jam session. They played for three hours without stopping, after which the group decided to form a band. After recording and releasing their first album in 2011, SIMO toured regionally around the south as well as frequent shows in Nashville. Phil Lesh And Friends
Phil Lesh and Friends is an American rock band formed and led by Phil Lesh, former bassist of the Grateful Dead. Phil & Friends is not a traditional group in that several different lineups of musicians have played under the name, including groups featuring members of Phish, the Black Crowes, and the Allman Brothers Band. Music The Phil & Friends concept takes the music of the Grateful Dead (and an ever-increasing number of other influences, including Bob Dylan, Traffic, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Warren Haynes' band Gov't Mule, the Allman Brothers Band, etc.) and explores and interprets it in new ways. William Thomas Emmanuel (born 31 May 1955) is an Australian guitarist. Regarded as one of the greatest acoustic guitarists of all time, he is known for his complex fingerstyle technique, energetic performances and use of percussive effects on the instrument. Originally a session player in many bands, Emmanuel carved out his own style as a solo artist, releasing many award-winning albums and singles. In June 2010 Emmanuel was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), and in 2011 he was inducted into the Australian Roll of Renown. Life and career One of six children, Emmanuel was born in Muswellbrook, New South Wales, Australia, in 1955. Luther Andrews Dickinson (born January 18, 1973) is the lead guitarist and vocalist for the North Mississippi Allstars and the son of record producer Jim Dickinson. He is also known for being the lead guitarist for The Black Crowes. He hosts ''Guitar Xpress'' on the Video on Demand network Mag Rack.
