J. T. Miller
Jonathan Tanner Miller (born March 14, 1993) is an American professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning. He was selected by the Rangers in the first-round, 15th overall at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. A versatile forward, Miller can play as a center or winger. Early life Miller grew up in a residential area in East Palestine, Ohio, blocks away from the East Palestine City School District campus, attending through grades kindergarten through 10th. The Tampa Bay Lightning (colloquially known as the Bolts) are a professional ice hockey team based in Tampa, Florida. Ontario Hockey League
The Ontario Hockey League (OHL; french: Ligue de hockey de l'Ontario (LHO)) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues which constitute the Canadian Hockey League. Plymouth Whalers
The Plymouth Whalers were a major junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League. They played out of Compuware Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, USA, a suburb of Detroit until 2015 when they were relocated to Flint, Michigan. History The Whalers can trace their roots back to the 1990–91 Detroit Compuware Ambassadors as an expansion team in the OHL. Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country. 2009–10 USHL Season
The 2009–10 USHL season is the 31st season of the United States Hockey League as an all-junior league. The regular season began on October 2, 2009, and concluded on April 3, 2010, with the regular season champion winning the Anderson Cup. The 2009–10 USHL season was the first to include both the Youngstown Phantoms and the US Nation Team Development Program, both of whom left the North American Hockey League. As a result of two new teams being added to the East Division, the Des Moines Buccaneers were moved to the West Division. USA Hockey National Team Development Program
The United States National Team Development Program (NTDP) was started in 1996 by USA Hockey as a way to identify elite ice hockey players under the age of 18, and centralize their training. There are two teams in the program: under-17 and under-18. Both teams are based in Plymouth, Michigan. The stated goal of the NTDP is "to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on the U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice". While enrolled in the NTDP, players stay with billet families.
