J. R. Vautour
J. R. Vautour is a Canadian country music artist from Toronto, Ontario. In his career, he has recorded three studio albums and released more than fifteen singles. He was also nominated for a Juno Awards 2002, a Canadian Country Music award, and an East Coast Music Award. Biography J. R. Vautour was born in Toronto, Ontario and raised in Minto, New Brunswick. He began performing at a young age, finishing second to Beverley Mahood in the 12-and-under category of a Brantford, Ontario singing contest. When he turned 18, Vautour's parents took him to Nashville, Tennessee to record his first demos. For the 1998 CBC special ''Where the River Meets the Sea'', a show which featured the top music acts of New Brunswick, Vautour was chosen to represent country music. Vautour's debut album, ''J. R. Gary Gene Watson (born October 11, 1943) is an American country music singer. He is most famous for his 1975 hit "Love in the Hot Afternoon," his 1981 No. 1 hit " Fourteen Carat Mind," and his signature 1979 song "Farewell Party." Watson's long career has included five number one hits, 21 top tens, and 48 charted singles. Biography Watson was born in Palestine, Texas, United States. The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) was founded in 1976 as the Academy of Country Music Entertainment to organize, promote and develop a Canadian country music industry. The groundwork for the association began on June 3rd, 1973 when a group of twelve entertainers, promoters and radio personalities met at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, Ontario and formed a Board of Directors to help promote Canadian content. Lecil Travis Martin (September 1, 1931 – April 12, 1999), whose stage name was Boxcar Willie, was an American country music singer-songwriter, who sang in the "old-time hobo" music style, complete with dirty face, overalls, and a floppy hat. "Boxcar Willie" was originally a character in a ballad he wrote, but he later adopted it as his own stage name.
