JP Smith (politician)
Jean-Pierre "JP" Smith is a South African politician and Cape Town city councillor for Subcouncil 15, Ward 54. An area that includes Sea Point, Green Point, and Mouille Point. He is a member of Democratic Alliance and prior to the 2014 general elections he was tipped of as the party's candidate to lead the City's Housing portfolio. Since 2009 he is the mayoral committee member responsible for safety and security in the Democratic Alliance-led Cape Town city council. Political career Smith first started his career in politics as ward councillor for Ward 54 where one of his first issues was campaigning to demolish the wall around Graaff's Pool in Sea Point. In 2009 he became the head of the Security Portfolio for the City of Cape Town and led an aggressive campaign against crime and anti-social behaviour in Sea Point using a Broken Windows strategy. Jean-Pierre Smith (born 24 January 1990) is a South African professional rugby union player who plays as a prop for the LA Giltinis of Major League Rugby (MLR) in the United States. Smith previously played prop for the Queensland Reds. He also played for Australian Super Rugby side the and for the Canberra Vikings in the National Rugby Championship. Smith is the twin brother of Ruan Smith who is also a professional rugby player. Career Smith started out his career playing for in South Africa, where he was a member of their youth system between 2009 and 2010 and also made five appearances during the 2010 Vodacom Cup season. John-Patrick Tracey "JP" Smith (born 24 January 1989) is an Australian professional tennis player who competes mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour, both in singles and doubles. He attended the University of Tennessee from 2007 through 2011 where he was a four-time All-American and made it to the college No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles. Smith reached his highest ATP singles ranking of No. 108 on 28 September 2015, and his highest ATP doubles ranking of No. 52 on 11 September 2017. In July 2015, Smith won his maiden ATP Tour match defeating fellow Aussie Bernard Tomic in the first round of the Hall of Fame Championships in Newport. He went on to reach the semifinals. Juan-Philip Smith (born 30 March 1994) is a South African professional rugby union player who plays for the Seattle Seawolves in Major League Rugby (MLR) in the United States. His regular position is scrum-half, but he has played as a fly-half on occasion. Career Border (2010–11) At high school level, Smith earned provincial selection to represent Border.
