J. Kousik
Jagatheesan Kousik (born 23 May 1995) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. He is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right arm medium pace. Early life Kousik was born on 23 May 1995 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Kousik's family does not have a cricketing background. He started playing at the age of 10. He started playing for the Coimbatore District Cricket Association as a 10-year-old. Domestic cricket Kousik has represented Tamil Nadu in age-group levels. He made his first class debut for the side on 1 October 2015 in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. He made his maiden first-class century in his second match, scoring 151 off 272 balls. He made his List A debut on 10 December 2015 in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He made his Twenty20 debut on 2 January 2016 in the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league contested in the state of Tamil Nadu in India and was formed in 2016 by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). It is played during July and August of every year by eight teams representing eight districts in Tamil Nadu. Shriram Group is the current sponsor of the tournament. The first season was inaugurated by former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni. Then it was won by Tuti Patriots. There have been five seasons of TNPL. The current champions, Chepauk Super Gillies are also the most successful team after winning the title in 2017, 2019 and 2021. The other teams which have won the title are Salem Spartans (Tuti Patriots) in 2016 and Siechem Madurai Panthers in 2018. In 2019 two of the franchises were accused of match fixing which led to removal of co-owners of a franchise. However both franchises remained intact in the league.
