J. Knutson
James Jay ("J.") Knutson (born March 7, 1957) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer. He is normally credited as simply J. Knutson. Early life and education Knutson attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, graduating in journalism. Attended : * Capilano College ( University) * Simon Fraser University * graduated BCIT in Broadcast Journalism. Career J. Knutson was a founding member of the Canadian west coast contemporary folk band “ Spirit of the West”. He toured and recorded 3 albums with the band until his departure in 1988. He continued to perform and record as a solo artist releasing 9 solo albums between 1993 and 2023. Knutson worked as a member of The Montreal-based band “ Hart Rouge” touring and recording on 4 albums from 1988 to 1993. The British Columbia Institute of Technology (also referred to as BCIT), is a public polytechnic institute in Burnaby, British Columbia. Spirit of the West were a Canadian folk rock band from North Vancouver, active from 1983 to 2016. Hart-Rouge
Hart-Rouge are a Canadian folk music group, consisting of siblings Paul Campagne, Michelle Campagne, and Suzanne Campagne. The three previously recorded and performed with several other family members as Folle Avoine, and formed Hart-Rouge with another sibling, Annette Campagne, when that band ended. Annette left the band in the mid-1990s. The band perform traditional folk songs and original material in both English and French. They have also recorded some material in Canadian First Nations languages. Their sister Carmen Campagne also continued a career in music, performing independently as a children's entertainer. Their father, Émile Campagne, has also released 2 albums of traditional folk songs. Originally from Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, the Campagne family are among the most notable Fransaskois personalities in Canada. Hart-Rouge was the original name of their hometown. Carmen Campagne
Carmen Campagne (September 8, 1959 – July 4, 2018) was a Canadian singer and children's entertainer. She, along with Connie Kaldor, received a Juno Award at the 1989 Award ceremony in the category Best Children's Album for ''Lullaby Berceuse''. A Fransaskois from Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, she was a member of the folk music band Folle Avoine in the 1970s. Her brother Paul Campagne and sisters Suzanne Campagne, Michelle Campagne and Annette Campagne, her bandmates in Folle Avoine, have also continued in music with the folk band Hart-Rouge. In 2013, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada "for her contributions as a singer, songwriter and composer enhancing music for young children and using music in French-language education". Connie Kaldor
Connie Isabelle Kaldor, (born 9 May 1953) is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter. She is the recipient of three Juno awards. Early life and education Kaldor was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. She graduated from Campbell Collegiate in Regina in 1972 and the University of Alberta in 1976 with a BFA degree in theatre. Career Kaldor performed with various theatre groups, including Theatre Passe Muraille, The Mummers and 25th Street House Theatre, until 1979, when she gave it up to start a full-time music career. In 1981, she founded her own independent record label, Coyote Entertainment, and has released fourteen albums. In 1997, she was featured performer in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on the last broadcast of Peter Gzowski's CBC national radio program Morningside.
