J. Ebb Duncan
Joseph Elvin "J. Ebb" Duncan (February 18, 1909 – January 19, 1980) was an American politician from the U.S. state of Georgia. Duncan served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1949 until 1964. He also served in the Georgia State Senate from 1973 until his death in 1980. He was a member of the United States Democratic party. Biography Joseph Ervin Duncan, better known as "J. Ebb," was born on February 18, 1909, in Douglasville, Georgia to John Raymond and Pearl (Perkins) Duncan. Duncan graduated from Douglas County High School in 1926 and then graduated from Young Harris College in 1928. He married Antoinette Talmadge Tyus on June 3, 1931, and they had three sons: Robert Tyus Duncan, Richard Allen Duncan, and Ebb Duncan Jr. Duncan Sr. died on January 19, 1980, due to a heart condition. Zell Bryan Miller (February 24, 1932 – March 23, 2018) was an American author and politician from the state of Georgia. A Democrat, Miller served as lieutenant governor from 1975 to 1991, 79th Governor of Georgia from 1991 to 1999, and as U.S. Senator from 2000 to 2005. Miller was a conservative Democrat as a senator in the 2000s, after being more liberal as governor in the 1990s. In 2004, he supported Republican President George W. Bush against Democratic nominee John Kerry in the presidential election. The city of Douglasville is the county seat of Douglas County, Georgia, United States. , the city had a population of 34,650, up from 30,961 in 2010 and 20,065 in 2000. Douglasville is located approximately west of Atlanta and is part of the Atlanta Metro Area. Highway access can be obtained via three interchanges along Interstate 20. History Located along a natural rise in the topography, Douglasville was originally known as "Skint Chestnut." The name was derived from a large tree used by Native Americans as a landmark; it was stripped of its bark so as to be more conspicuous.
