J. Donald Wilson
John Donald Wilson (June 5, 1904 – January 26, 1984) was a radio and film writer, producer, and voice actor, born in Kansas City, Missouri. He created the title character in the radio series ''The Whistler'', a show that he wrote. His other radio writing, producing, and directing work included ''The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe'', '' The Adventures of Bill Lance'', and '' Dark Venture.'' He did voice work in radio in the 1930s. He voiced Mickey Mouse in select 1938 broadcasts of ''The Mickey Mouse Theater of the Air'' as well as other characters in Disney productions such as '' The Reluctant Dragon''. He was the announcer on ''Strange As It Seems'' and ''Charlie Chan''. After more than a decade of acting on radio, he became production head of ABC and later was promoted to vice president. Kansas City (abbreviated KC or KCMO) is the largest city in Missouri by population and area. Find a Grave is a website that allows the public to search and add to an online database of cemetery records. It is owned by Ancestry.com. Its stated mission is "to help people from all over the world work together to find, record and present final disposition information as a virtual cemetery experience." Volunteers can create memorials, upload photos of grave markers or deceased persons, transcribe photos of headstones, and more. , the site claimed more than 210 million memorials. History The site was created in 1995 by Salt Lake City resident Jim Tipton (born in Alma, Michigan) to support his hobby of visiting the burial sites of celebrities. He later added an online forum. ''To Spring'' is a 1936 animated musical short produced by Harman and Ising for the MGM cartoon studio's ''Happy Harmonies'' series. Although the production credit goes to Harman and Ising this short was actually the first cartoon to be directed by the future cartoon giant William Hanna, along with animator Paul Fennell. Plot This short animates the changing of the seasons through the eyes of the gnomes responsible for spring, as well as their hard work that makes it possible. A dark cloud with a deep bellowing voice is used to animate winter, and the elements which nature must fight to put this season behind us. Production The title is a play on words used to represent the season of spring and action the gnomes must take to wake up and get to work. This cartoon uses the bold and vibrant colors synonymous with springtime, and is an excellent example of the Technicolor process that was very popular at the time.
