Acton attended Lemont High School in Lemont, Illinois. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 35th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign and played college baseball at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He finished his career at Illinois with a school record 25 career saves. Acton signed with the Oakland Athletics as an undrafted free agent after the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft, which was shortened because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Oakland Athletics (often referred to as the A's) are an American professional baseball team based in Oakland, California. The Lansing Lugnuts are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. They are located in Lansing, Michigan, and play their home games at Jackson Field (Lansing), Jackson Field. The Midwest League came to Lansing after owners Tom Dickson and Sherrie Myers moved the team to work with the city for a public-private lease to build a new stadium. Sean Anthony Manaea ( ; born February 1, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres. He played college baseball at Indiana State University. While attending Indiana State, Manaea was named the best prospect in the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2012.
