Adrián Martínez (baseball)
Adrián Misael Martínez (born December 10, 1996) is a Mexican professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022. Career San Diego Padres Martínez signed with the San Diego Padres as an international free agent in February 2015. He spent the 2015 season with the Dominican Summer League Padres, recording a 4.41 ERA with 19 strikeouts over innings. He missed the 2016 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He returned in 2017 with the Arizona League Padres, going 2–3 with a 4.50 ERA and 37 strikeouts over 30 innings. He split the 2018 season between the Fort Wayne TinCaps of the Class A Midwest League and the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Class A Short Season Northwest League, combining to go 4–6 with a 6.90 ERA and 78 strikeouts over innings. Pitcher
In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. Double-A Central
The Texas League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated in the South Central United States since 1902. It is classified as a Double-A league. Despite the league's name, only its five South Division teams are actually based in the state of Texas; the five North Division teams are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The league was founded in 1888 and ran through 1892. It was called the Texas Association in 1895, the Texas-Southern League in 1896, and again as the Texas League from 1897 to 1899. It was revived as a Class D league in 1902, moved to Class C in 1904 where it played through 1910 (except for 1906 as Class D again), played at Class B until 1920, and finally moved up to Class A in 1921. San Antonio Missions
The San Antonio Missions are a Minor League Baseball team of the Texas League and the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. They are located in San Antonio, Texas, and are named for the Spanish missions around which the city was founded. The Missions play their home games at Nelson W. The Lake Elsinore Storm are a Minor League Baseball team of the California League and the Single-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. The Storm plays their home games at Lake Elsinore Diamond (Pete Lehr Field), which opened in 1994; the park seats 7,866 fans. Class A Short Season (officially Short-Season A) was a level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States from 1965 through 2020. In the hierarchy of minor league classifications, it was below Triple-A, Double-A, Class A-Advanced (created in 1990), and Class A. Teams in Class A Short Season played about 75 to 80 games per season, compared to the 130- to 140-game seasons of most professional baseball minor leagues. The Tri-City Dust Devils are a Minor League Baseball team in the northwest United States, based in Pasco, Washington.
