Jean-Jacques Cadet (born February 22, 1976), better known by his stage name J-Live, is an American rapper, DJ, and record producer. Life and career J-Live released his debut studio album, '' The Best Part'', in 2001. It featured production by DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and Prince Paul. In 2002, his second studio album, '' All of the Above'', was released on Coup D’état. It has sold 30,000 copies. J-Live's third studio album, ''The Hear After'', was released in 2005. In 2008, he released the fourth studio album, ''Then What Happened?'', on BBE. In 2011, he released a studio album, ''S.P.T.A. (Said Person of That Ability)''. From 1998 to 2002, J-Live served as an English teacher in Brownsville and Bushwick, Brooklyn. ''All of the Above'' is the second studio album by American hip hop artist J-Live. It was released on Coup d'État in 2002. The album cover pays homage to John Coltrane's '' Blue Train''. The album peaked at number 28 on the ''Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums chart, as well as number 16 on the Independent Albums chart. Critical reception Brad Haywood of ''Pitchfork'' gave the album an 8.5 out of 10, noting that " -Live'sdelivery is similar to Posdnuos, and his lyrical content is along the same lines: intelligent, educated, confident, and socially conscious." ''The Best Part'' is the debut studio album by American hip hop artist J-Live. It was released on Triple Threat Productions in 2001. Background ''The Best Part'' was recorded from 1996 to 1999 and featured production by Prince Paul, DJ Premier, and Pete Rock. It was set for a 1999 release, but due to problems with his record label, Raw Shack Records, J-Live left the label and the album was shelved. J-Live moved to Payday Records, but when Payday's parent company London Records was bought from Universal Music Group by WEA, the album was again shelved. In 2001, copies surfaced as bootlegs and several were of such high quality it was rumored that J-Live himself was behind them. By the fall of 2001, after five years of label problems, ''The Best Part'' was finally officially released on Triple Threat Productions. Handsome Boy Modeling School is an American collaborative project between hip hop producers Dan the Automator (Gorillaz, Dr. Octagon, Deltron 3030) and Prince Paul (Stetsasonic, De La Soul, Gravediggaz). The collaboration originally lasted from 1999 to 2006 and resulted in two albums, featuring a vast cast of guest rappers, singers, comedians and DJs. In February 2018, the duo played a concert in New York City. History Handsome Boy Modeling School was a conceptual hip hop duo that parodied and acted as a commentary on vain, consumerist, materialistic, and self-absorbed members of upper class society, such as supermodels and people from old money. Gabriel Benn (born December 29, 1974), better known as Asheru, is an American rapper, educator, and youth activist. He performed the opening and closing themes for the popular TV series, ''The Boondocks''. Donald Mason, also known as Vakill (Born in March 21, 1975) is an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois. Vakill is known through his association with Chicago Hip Hop collective The Molemen, and has released three studio albums.
