The Italian general election of 2008 took place on 13–14 April 2008. The People of Freedom was the largest party in Sardinia with 42.4%, while the Democratic Party came second with 36.2%. 2008 Italian General Election
A snap election was held in Italy on 13–14 April 2008. The election came after President Giorgio Napolitano dissolved the Italian Parliament on 6 February 2008, following the defeat of the government of Prime Minister Romano Prodi in a January 2008 Senate vote of confidence and the unsuccessful tentative appointment of Franco Marini with the aim to change the current electoral law. Under Italian law, elections must be held within 70 days of the dissolution. The voting determined the leader of Italy's 62nd government since the end of World War II. The coalition led by ex-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi from The People of Freedom party defeated that of former Mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni of the Democratic Party. Enrico Boselli (born 7 January 1957) is an Italian politician. He has been Vice President of Alliance for Italy, and is the former leader of the Italian Democratic Socialists and the modern-day Socialist Party, and former President of Emilia-Romagna. Biography A former member of the historical Italian Socialist Party (PSI), Boselli was first elected as MP in 1994. After the dissolution of the PSI in 1994, he has been leader of the Italian Socialists and the Italian Democratic Socialists. He also served as Member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2004 as member of the Group of the Party of European Socialists. Sardigna Natzione Indipendentzia ("For the Independence of the Sardinian Nation"), also known as Sardigna Natzione or SN, is a minor separatist and socialist political party in Sardinia, Italy. Its long-time leader is Bustianu Cumpostu. History The party was founded by Anghelu Caria in 1994, in continuity with the Independentist Sardinian Party (PSIn), of which Caria had been founder and leader. After Caria's sudden death, Bustianu Cumpostu was elected new leader by defeating Gavino Sale, who would lead the party's left-wing faction for five years, before leaving in 2001. Sardinian Action Party
The Sardinian Action Party ( sc, Partidu Sardu, it, Partito Sardo d'Azione, PSd'Az or PSdA) is a Sardinian nationalist, regionalist and separatist political party in Sardinia. While being traditionally part of the Sardinian centre-left, the party has also sided with the centre-right coalition and, more recently, with the League. The PSd'Az is one of the oldest stateless nationalist parties active in Europe that promotes autonomy towards the ideal of independence. As such, the party was a founding member of the European Free Alliance in 1984, but was expelled in 2020 because of its alliance with the League. History Foundation On 3 July 2007 Storace announced his resignation from National Alliance (AN) in a letter posted on his website, claiming that AN had become too centrist and moderate and in protest against the lack of internal democracy in the party, and on 27 July he announced the formation of a new party. History The federation was officially launched on 8–9 December 2007 with the goal of uniting Italian communist, socialist and ecologist parties in a united bloc, somewhat similar to what the centre-left forces have done with the Democratic Party and before that The Olive Tree.
