Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. is a design and engineering company and brand based in Moncalieri, Italy, that traces its roots to the 1968 foundation of Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi S.p.A. by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani. Best known for its automobile design work, Italdesign also offers product design, project management, styling, packaging, engineering, modeling, prototyping and testing services to manufacturers worldwide. As of 2010, Italdesign employs 800 people. On August 9, 2010, Volkswagen Group subsidiary Audi's subsidiary Lamborghini acquired 90.1% of the shares of Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A., including the brand name rights and patents. Italdesign Zerouno
The Italdesign Zerouno is a sports car produced by Italian Automotive styling house Italdesign Giugiaro and was introduced in 2017. The Zerouno is the first car sold under the name of the Moncalieri design house and was created by their Italdesign Automobili Speciali division. The name means "Zero One", as it is the first production vehicle from Italdesign's low production sports car division, Italdesign Automobili Speciali. Production The Zerouno coupé was introduced in 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show and had a limited production run of 5 units, all of which, according to the company, have been sold. The coupé had a base price of US$1.7 million. The Zerouno Duerta (roadster) was introduced at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and is also limited to 5 cars. Alfa Romeo Scighera
The Alfa Romeo Scighera is a functional, futuristically styled concept car designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro and manufactured by Italdesign of Turin, Italy in 1997 for automobile manufacturer Alfa Romeo. The name "Scighera" means mist in the Milanese dialect. Design The Scighera was conceived by Italdesign as a homage to Alfa Romeo's racing history and was designed to be a race car drives let on the road. The design combines modern and classic design elements. The front of the car draws inspiration from Formula One cars' front wing which has a low slung design and an integrated wing on the buttress in order to create downforce. The V shape of the front mimics that of the Alfa Romeo logo. Due to the integrated wing, the car had thin headlamps that were infamously called "clown-eyes". Giorgetto Giugiaro
Giorgetto Giugiaro (; born 7 August 1938) is an Italian automotive designer. He has worked on supercars and popular everyday vehicles. He was born in Garessio, Cuneo, Piedmont. Giugiaro was named Car Designer of the Century in 1999 and inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2002. In addition to cars, Giugiaro designed camera bodies for Nikon, ''Navigation promenade'' of Porto Santo Stefano, in 1983, the organ of the cathedral of Lausanne (composed of about 7000 pipes) in 2003, and developed a new pasta shape, "Marille". He also designed several watch models for Seiko, mainly racing chronographs, as well as office furniture for Okamura Corporation. Alfa Romeo Caimano
The Alfa Romeo Caimano is a concept car designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign and presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1971. The car is exhibited at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo. Design The Caimano features many unconventional design elements, one of the most striking being its large glass canopy-windshield, which incorporates the doors as well. The B and C pillars form a trapezoidal roll bar in the rear of the car, which also doubles as an adjustable spoiler which can be controlled from inside the cabin. Other features include two smaller windows on the doors for ventilation or paying toll, pop up headlights, a large Alfa Romeo logo printed on the hood in burnt orange and a cylindrical dashboard. Alfa Romeo Iguana
The Alfa Romeo Iguana is a concept car produced by Alfa Romeo in 1969. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign. Background The car was previewed at the Sport Car Show in Monza and presented officially at the Turin Auto Show in 1969. It was the first Alfa Romeo model designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro as head of his own carrozzeria, and was based on the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale road-going version of the Tipo 33/2. Although it did not go into production, the Iguana is reflected in Giugiaro's later work. The body of the Iguana was painted a metal-flake grey, while the roof frame and cabin pillars were finished in brushed metal, a treatment Giugiaro later applied to the DMC DeLorean. Alfa Romeo Visconti
The Alfa Romeo Visconti is a concept car made by the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The car was seen for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004. The car is a four-door fastback coupé/ sedan and is almost long. Under the bonnet is a 3.2-litre V6 JTS biturbo engine, which produces at 6000 rpm and of torque at 2000 rpm. The car is front-engined all-wheel-drive assisted with rear-wheel steering, with a six-speed automatic gearbox and Brembo's composite ceramic brake discs all-round. The Alfa Romeo Brera and the Alfa Romeo Spider (Type 939) are mid-size sports cars using the GM/Fiat Premium platform, manufactured by Pininfarina and marketed by Alfa Romeo as a 2+2 coupé and roadster respectively. 12,488 units of the Spider and 21,786 units of the Brera were made with production ending in late 2010 and inventory remaining into 2011.
