''It's the Geography That Counts'' is a 1957 play by Australian writer Raymond Bowers. Premise Marshall Arnitt is a racing car driver who has spent the weekend with his mother in the south of England. His foster brother James has borrowed Marshall's car without permission and hits a cyclist on the Scottish border. Marshall decides to take the blame. But then James hears that their mother has been murdered, and Marshall has engineered clues so that James will take the fall. Raymond Bowers (writer)
Raymond Bowers was an Australian writer who mostly worked in London. He worked as a journalist in Perth, writing for amateur theatre. In 1954 at age 34 he went to London in order to improve his chances of having his work done professionally. His breakthrough play was '' In Writing'' in 1956, later done for Australian television. "My first aim is to make money," he said in 1957. "To do that you have to entertain. If I have any philosophising to do, I'll leave it until I'm well established." John Gregson
Harold Thomas Gregson (15 March 1919 – 8 January 1975), known professionally as John Gregson, was an English actor of stage, television and film, with 40 credited film roles. He was best known for his crime drama and comedy roles. He was credited in 40 films between 1948 and 1971, and on television from 1960 until his death. He was often cast as a police inspector or as a navy or army officer, or in comedy roles in Ealing and other British films. } Christopher Muir (1931 - 2022) was an Australian director and producer, notable for his work in TV in the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1980s he was head of ABC Television drama. Biography Most of his early childhood was spent in France, but he returned to Melbourne upon the outbreak of World War II. He joined the ABC in 1949 at the recommendation of his headmaster upon completing his schooling at Melbourne Grammar School. Initially working as a messenger boy, he soon became a general trainee, and by 1954 he was a radio announcer. In 1955 the ABC seconded him to Paris to study television. He returned to Melbourne for the inauguration of ABC television in 1956. The ensuing decade saw him become a pioneer of television drama and music productions, often screened live-to-air during prime time on the ABC. It was first presented on the BBC in London in 1956 and was also presented on stage and radio. Australian TV drama was relatively rare at the time.
