István Nagy (athlete)
István Nagy (born 28 April 1959 in Heves) is a retired 100 and 200 metres runner from Hungary. He won the Hungarian outdoor championships 7 times, he also won the Hungarian Indoor championships at 60/200 metres on 6 occasions also. He competed at the 1980 Moscow Games in the 100/200 metres but did not make it past the Quarter finals in either sprint. In 1981 he won a silver medal at the World Students 200 metres final. He competed at the 1982 European championships in the 200 metres, where he finished 5th in the final. He won two medals at the European Indoor Championships The European Indoor Championships was a men's tennis tournament played in Berlin, Germany. Heves
Heves is a small town in eastern Hungary. About 100 km east of Budapest, Heves lies at the northern extreme of the Great Hungarian Plain, just south of the Mátra and Bükk hills and west of the Tisza River. Heves gave its name to the Heves County, however it is not its seat and it is the fourth largest town in the county. The closest major city is Eger, which lies 40 km to the north. Heves is a significant transportation hub for the towns and agricultural areas of southern Heves County. Demographics Heves is home to approximately 11,000 residents. 200 Metres
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400 metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks.
