István Avar
István Avar (german: Stefan Auer, ro, Ștefan Auer) (28 May 1905 – 13 October 1977) was a footballer and manager of German descent who at various times competed for both Hungary and Romania. He played for Újpest FC, most famous for playing for the Hungarian national team in the 1934 World Cup. He was born in Arad, Hungary, which became part of Romania in 1920. With Újpest, Avar won the Mitropa Cup in 1929, being the competition's top scorer with ten goals, and the Coupe des Nations in 1930. After 1941, he became the player-manager of Kaposvári Rákóczi. He died in Kaposvár in 1977, aged 72. Arad, Romania
Arad (; German and Hungarian: ''Arad,'' ) is the capital city of Arad County, Transylvania. Kaposvári Rákóczi FC
Kaposvári Rákóczi FC is a football club in Kaposvár, Hungary. Their home stadium is Stadion Kaposvár Rákoczi. The team is named after Francis II Rákóczi, a Transylvanian prince and national hero and they are also often referred to be the nickname ''Somogyiak'', referring to Somogy County, where the team plays. History 1923–2003 The team was formed on 15 August 1923 as the Rákóczi Sport Club by workers of the local ''Mezőgazdasági Ipari Részvénytársaság'' sugar factory. Though they originally played as amateurs, they played their first professional match against ''MÁV I.'' the following year. The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. Mitropa Cup
The Mitropa Cup, officially called the La Coupe de l'Europe Centrale or Central European Cup, was one of the first international major European football cups for club sides. It was conducted among the successor states of the former Austria-Hungary. After World War II in 1951 a replacement tournament named ''Zentropa Cup'' was held, but just for one season, the Mitropa Cup name was revived, and again in 1958 the name of the tournament changed to ''Danube Cup'' but only for one season.
