Israeli Basketball League Cup
The Israeli Basketball League Cup is a pre-season professional basketball tournament that is contested between clubs. It has been held in Israel since 2006. It is held during the week before the start of the Israeli Premier League season. The Israeli League Cup tournament is currently sponsored by Pais Lotto, and therefore it is officially known as the Chance Cup. Previously, the tournament was sponsored by the Toto Winner Organization, and it was known as the Winner Cup, from 2006 to 2009. In 2010, it had no sponsor, and therefore the tournament was named Basketball League Cup. 2006 Winner Cup
Winner Cup 2006 is the 1st edition of the Israeli basketball pre-season tournament - Winner Cup. It was played on 15 October-19 October in Jerusalem at the Malha Arena, during the jewish holiday of Sukkot. Ironi Ashkelon has won the cup after beating Maccabi Rishon LeZion (basketball), Maccabi Rishon LeZion 79-73 in the final. Withdrawals The teams that finished at the top eight places on Ligat HaAl (basketball) 2005–06, Basketball Super League 2005–06 were supposed to compete in the tournament. Maccabi Tel Aviv B.C., Maccabi Tel Aviv that finished 1st in the 2005-06 season has withdrawn from the tournament due to schedule problems. Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C., Hapoel Tel Aviv that finished on the 8th place was relegated to the 2nd division due to financial problems and was not eligible to compete in the tournament. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. After the State of Israel was established, the rival sport organizations reached a 1951 agreement that allowed joint sports associations and competitions open for all Israeli residents. The 2012 Israeli Basketball League Cup was the 7th edition of the Israeli Basketball League Cup pre-season tournament. It plays between October 2 and October 6 mainly at Romema Arena in Haifa, as Kiryat Ata Hall hosted two quarterfinals games. Lior Eliyahu ( he, לִיאוֹר אֱלִיָּהוּ; born 9 September 1985) is an Israeli former professional basketball player. He is 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) in height and he weighs 105 kg (225 pounds). He plays at the power forward position. He was named the 2012 and 2015 Israeli Basketball Premier League MVP. Early life Eliyahu is Jewish, and was born in Ramat-Gan, Israel. Hapoel Holon Basketball Club ( he, מועדון הכדורסל הפועל חולון), known for sponsorship reasons as Hapoel Atsmon Playgrounds Holon (), is a professional basketball club based in Holon, Israel. The team plays in the Israeli Basketball Premier League (the top tier of Israeli basketball), and internationally in the Basketball Champions League. The team was founded in 1947, and plays in the Holon Toto Hall, which is home to 5,500 spectators. Jeremy Raymon Pargo (born March 17, 1986) is an American professional basketball player for Real Betis of the Liga ACB. Standing at , he plays at the point guard position. Chester Simmons III (born July 24, 1982), better known as Tre Simmons, is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Odessa, Green River CC and Washington before playing professionally in Greece, Spain, Israel, Czech Republic, Russia, Puerto Rico and France.
