Israel Romero Ospino or popularly known as "El Pollo Isra" (Born in Villanueva, La Guajira, Villanueva, Department of La Guajira, La Guajira in 1954) is a Colombian vallenato musician, composer and accordionist. Romero was along Rafael Orozco Maestre the founder of the vallenato group Binomio de Oro de América. Villanueva, La Guajira
Villanueva is a town and municipality located in the northern Department of La Guajira, Colombia. Villanueva is known in Colombia for being the cradle of many vallenato singers and composers. The economy of the town relies heavily on agriculture and farming. Geography The municipality of Villanueva is located in the southern region of the Department of La Guajira within the valley of the Cesar River, between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains and the Serranía del Perijá which Villanueva borders. The municipality is crossed by the Villanueva River which flows into the Cesar River. Los Freddy's (or Los Freddys) were a Mexican musical group, founded in 1962 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The group was one of the most popular Mexican ensembles of the 1960s and 1970s. Early in their careers, the group earned popularity by playing cover songs of popular English-language songs (such as Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs' "Wooly Bully" and The Beatles' "Penny Lane") that were translated into Spanish; beginning in the 70s, the band established themselves throughout Latin America as one of the top bands with a string of successful original slow ballads and grupera songs. They were nominated for a Grammy Award in 1989. In 1994, lead singer Arturo Cisneros left the band to pursue a solo career and now performs under his own name. The remaining band members continue together with a new lead singer.
