''Island Life'' is a compilation album by Grace Jones, released in December 1985, summing up the first nine years of her musical career. The album sits among Jones' best-selling works. Production and release After the major commercial success Grace Jones achieved with her comeback album '' Slave to the Rhythm'' in 1985, Island Records decided to release a best-of compilation at the end of the same year. ''Island Life'' would feature songs from most of Jones' Island Records albums: ''Portfolio'', '' Fame'', ''Warm Leatherette'', '' Nightclubbing'', ''Living My Life'', and ''Slave to the Rhythm''. No tracks from ''Muse'' were included. Some of the songs appeared in edited forms, and a remix of " Love Is the Drug" was included. No new songs were recorded for the album. Grace Jones
Grace Beverly Jones (born 19 May 1948) is a model, singer and actress. Born in Jamaica, she and her family moved to Syracuse, New York, when she was a teenager. Jones began her modelling career in New York state, then in Paris, working for fashion houses such as Yves St. Laurent and Kenzo, and appearing on the covers of '' Elle'' and ''Vogue''. ''Muse'' is the third studio album by Grace Jones, released on September 4, 1979, by Island Records. Production and release ''Muse'' was the last album of Jones's disco trilogy recorded with producer Tom Moulton, which began in 1977 with debut ''Portfolio''. As in the case of two previous records, the first side of the album is a continuous medley of four songs, joined by a narrative about someone who has sinned. The second side, however, consists of disco songs with no lyrical relation to one another. All album art, including the cover image, is by Richard Bernstein. The album features a re-recorded version "I'll Find My Way to You", which Jones released three years prior to ''Muse''. It was originally featured in a 1976 Italian movie ''Quelli della calibro 38'' (international title: ''Colt 38 Special Squad'') in which she played a club singer. Michael Ochs (born 1943) is an American photographic archivist best known for his extensive collection of pictures related to rock music dating back to the 1950s and 1960s. The Michael Ochs Archives, located in Venice, California, contained 3 million vintage prints, proof sheets and negatives which were licensed daily for use in CD reissues, books, films and documentaries. The ''Los Angeles Times'' called Ochs "America's preeminent rock 'n' roll photo archivist" and described his archive as "the dominant force in the rock image marketplace"; ''The New York Times'' called it "the premier source of musician photography in the world". "Sex Drive" is a 1993 single by Grace Jones. Background "Sex Drive" is a cover version of the Sheep on Drugs 1992 song "Track X". It was written by band members themselves and produced for Grace by Mark Pistel and Philip Steir. It was released on 23 September 1993 by Island Records with a cover of the Consolidated song "Typical Male" as the B-side. The single met with considerable success, topping the US dance chart.
