Islamkot International Airport
Mai Bakhtawar Airport is an airport near Mithi and Islamkot, Tharparkar District in the Sindh province of Pakistan it is named after Mai Bakhtawar Lashari Shaheed a farm worker who was murdered during a landlord/tenant confrontation . It has been constructed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan at a cost of Rs. 972.07 million at the request of the Sindh Coal Authority to facilitate the development of the Thar coalfield nearby. Clearance for the construction of the airport was given by Pakistan's Ministry of Defence on 25 September 2009 as it lies within of Pakistan's international border with India. It is being constructed to cater for Category-C aircraft as per ICAO standards and will have a 7,000 ft. long runway. The airport would be used for both civil and military air traffic. Islamkot
Islamkot Tehsil ( ur, ), () is a Tehsil in the Tharparkar District in Sindh, Pakistan. Hundreds of neem trees seen on Islamkot-Mithi, Islamkot-Chachro and Islamkot-Nagarparkar roads were planted during chairmanship of Nihalchand Pabani and under his care. For the same reason this region is also known as the Neem tree region. The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan is building the Islamkot International Airport here. Mithi
Mithi (, ur, ), is a city and the capital of Tharparkar District in the Sindh province of Pakistan. It became the district headquarter of the Tharparkar District in 1990, after the area's separation from Mirpur Khas. Mithi is one of the very few regions in Pakistan where Hindus form a majority. Close to 80% of the population in this region belong to the Hindu community. Both Hindus and Muslims reportedly live peacefully and there has been no reports of religious intolerance. Geography The town is located at 24°74'0N 69°80'0E with an altitude of 28 metres (92 feet). It lies 450 kilometres from Karachi and is located in a desert area. Tharparkar (Dhatki/ sd, ٿرپارڪر, ur, ), also known as Thar, is a district in Sindh province in Pakistan headquartered at Mithi.
