Jeddah
Jeddah ( ), also spelled Jedda, Jiddah or Jidda ( ; ar, , Jidda, ), is a city in the Hejaz region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the country's commercial center. Saudi First Division
The First Division League (FDL for short), also called the Yelo league for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of professional football in Saudi Arabia. The First Division League is ranked below the Saudi Professional League and above the Saudi Second Division in the Saudi Arabian football league system. All of the FDL clubs qualify for the King Cup, the annual Saudi Cup competition. Al-Hazem are the most recent champions, winning their second title during the 2020–21 season. The number of clubs in the league has changed throughout history, most recently in the 2018–19 season, when the number of clubs increased from 16 to 20. 2016 Saudi Super Cup
The 2016 Saudi Super Cup was the fourth edition of the Saudi Super Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Saudi Pro League and King's Cup competitions. The match was played between Al-Ahli the winners of both the 2015–16 Saudi Pro League and the 2016 King Cup, and Al-Hilal, the winners of the 2015–16 Crown Prince Cup. It was held at Craven Cottage in London, England on 8 August 2016. Al-Ahli won the match 4–3 on penalties following a 1–1 draw, winning their first Super Cup title. Background Al-Ahli qualified as champions of the 2015–16 Saudi Professional League and winners of the 2016 King Cup. The Saudi Super Cup ( ar, كأس السوبر السعودي) is an annual super cup football match organised by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. Founded in 2013 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2022–23 by four teams: the winners and runners-up of the King Cup and Pro League. The competition was held the week before the season begins in Saudi Arabia from 2013 until 2018. Since the 2019 edition it has been held mid-season. The current holders are Al-Hilal, who won 2–2 (4–3 on penalties) against Al-Faisaly in the 2021 edition. The most successful teams in the competition are Al-Hilal, who have each won the trophy three times. 2016 King Cup
The 2016 King Cup, or The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques Cup, was the 41st season of King Cup since its establishment in 1957, and the 9th under the current edition. It started on 19 January and ended on 29 May 2016. Al-Hilal were the defending champions, but they were eliminated in the semifinals. Al-Ahli won their third title in the current edition and the thirteenth overall after beating Al-Nassr 2–1 after extra time in the final. The King Cup (sometimes spelled King's), officially known as The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Cup ( ar, كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين), is the Saudi Arabian football knockout cup competition, run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The cup was created in 1957 and was played until 1990. It was re-launched again in 2007 as ''King's Cup of Champions'', and was played by only the top 6 finishers of the Professional League plus the Crown Prince Cup and Federation Cup winners. Since 2014, it was renamed as ''King's Cup'', the competition returned to its roots by implementing the old format. 153 clubs have taken part in the tournament.
