2016 Saudi Super Cup
The 2016 Saudi Super Cup was the fourth edition of the Saudi Super Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Saudi Pro League and King's Cup competitions. The match was played between Al-Ahli the winners of both the 2015–16 Saudi Pro League and the 2016 King Cup, and Al-Hilal, the winners of the 2015–16 Crown Prince Cup. It was held at Craven Cottage in London, England on 8 August 2016. Al-Ahli won the match 4–3 on penalties following a 1–1 draw, winning their first Super Cup title. Background Al-Ahli qualified as champions of the 2015–16 Saudi Professional League and winners of the 2016 King Cup. It was their first Saudi Super Cup appearance since the competition was introduced in 2013. Al-Hilal qualified as winners of the 2015–16 Crown Prince Cup. Saudi Super Cup
The Saudi Super Cup ( ar, كأس السوبر السعودي) is an annual super cup football match organised by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. Founded in 2013 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2022–23 by four teams: the winners and runners-up of the King Cup and Pro League. The competition was held the week before the season begins in Saudi Arabia from 2013 until 2018. Since the 2019 edition it has been held mid-season. The current holders are Al-Hilal, who won 2–2 (4–3 on penalties) against Al-Faisaly in the 2021 edition. The most successful teams in the competition are Al-Hilal, who have each won the trophy three times. 2015–16 Saudi Crown Prince Cup
The 2015–16 Saudi Crown Prince Cup was the 41st season of the Saudi Crown Prince Cup since its establishment in 1957. This season's competition featured a total of 30 teams, 14 teams from the Pro League, and 16 teams from the First Division. The holders were Al-Ahli who beat Al-Hilal 2–1 in the previous season's final on 13 February 2015. The 2016 Saudi Crown Prince Cup Final was played between Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh. In a rematch of the previous year's final, Al-Hilal defeated holders Al-Ahli 2–1 in the final to win their record-extending 13th Crown Prince Cup title. Osama Hawsawi
Osama Hawsawi ( ar, أسامة هوساوي, born 31 March 1984) is a retired Saudi Arabian footballer who played as a central defender. After starting out at Al-Wehda, he went on to spend the vast majority of his career with Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. He won several major titles with both clubs, including five Pro League titles, five Crown Prince Cups and two King Cups. In addition, he became the first Saudi player to play in the Belgian Pro League. Nasser Al-Shamrani ( ar, ناصر الشمراني) (born 23 November 1983) is a Saudi Arabian footballer who plays former the Saudi Arabia national team as a forward. Yasser Saeed Al-Qahtani ( ar, ياسر سعيد القحطاني; born 10 October 1982) is a former Saudi footballer who played as a forward for Al-Hilal FC in the Saudi Professional League. Mustafa Mahdi Bassas ( ar, مصطفى مهدي بصاص; born 25 June 1993) is a Saudi professional footballer who last played for Pro League club Al-Faisaly as a winger. Omar Al Somah ( ar, عمر السومة; born 28 March 1989) is a Syrian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Qatar Stars League club Al-Arabi, on loan from Saudi club Al Ahli, and the Syria national team.
