Isidore Dagnan, a French landscape painter, was born at Marseille in 1794, and died in Paris in 1873. His pictures consist chiefly of views in Southern France, Italy, and Switzerland. Palace of Fontainebleau (; ) or Château de Fontainebleau, located southeast of the center of Paris, in the commune of Fontainebleau, is one of the largest French royal châteaux. The medieval castle and subsequent palace served as a residence for the French monarchs from Louis VII to Napoleon III. Francis I and Napoleon were the monarchs who had the most influence on the palace as it stands today. The Grand Trianon () is a French Baroque style château situated in the northwestern part of the Domain of Versailles in Versailles, France. It was built at the request of King Louis XIV of France as a retreat for himself and his ''maîtresse-en-titre'' of the time, the Marquise de Montespan, and as a place where he and invited guests could take light meals (''collations'') away from the strict ''étiquette'' of the royal court.
