Ishak Pamumbu Lambe
Rev. Ishak Pamumbu Lambe (6 February 1946 – 1 January 2021) was an Indonesian Torajan people, Torajan Christian pastor and politician. He served as a Senator in the national Regional Representative Council from 2004 to 2009. Lambe was also the former Chairman of the Toraja Church Synod Worker's Agency, a Protestant denomination headquartered in the Tana Toraja Regency of South Sulawesi, from 1992 to 2001. Biography Lambe was born on 6 February 1946, in Tana Toraja Regency, present-day South Sulawesi. He graduated from Rantepao Christian Junior High School in Tana Toraja in 1962. He then attended Rantepao Christian SPG until 1965. Lambe graduated from Theologia College (STT) (''Sekolah Tinggi Theologia STT''), a theological seminary in Jakarta, in 1971 before completing his master's degree at the same seminary from 1976 to 1978. Torajan People
The Torajans are an ethnic group indigenous people, indigenous to a mountainous region of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Their population is approximately 1,100,000, of whom 450,000 live in the List of regencies and cities of Indonesia, regency of Tana Toraja ("Land of Toraja"). Most of the population is Christianity, Christian, and others are Islam, Muslim or have local animism, animist beliefs known as ''aluk'' ("the way"). The Indonesian government has recognised this animistic belief as ''Aluk To Dolo'' ("Way of the Ancestors"). The word ''Toraja'' comes from the Buginese language term ''to riaja'', meaning "people of the uplands". The Dutch East Indies, Dutch colonial government named the people ''Toraja'' in 1909. The Regional Representative Council ( id, Dewan Perwakilan Daerah, DPD; alternatively translatable as the House of Regions or the House of Regional Representatives or the Senate of Indonesia), is one of two parliamentary chambers in Indonesia.
